Sat at the bar and the service was outstanding. Fantastic atmosphere. The drinks were fire. Highly recommend the monkey house if you’re a bourbon fan. I had the hamachi crudo and the pork sugo. Both were elegantly layered in flavors and texture. Hoping to try the tasting menu next time I go.

Bluebeard provides a new daily menu. Their waitstaff, including the chef, are extremely accommodating when it comes to allergies. Whatever the chef curates, you can trust the dish will be more than impeccable – expect umami! Exceptional gratitude goes to this establishment as it can be challenging to find excellent dishes that can accommodate challenging allergies. Highly recommend this restaurant.

If you’re in Indianapolis, Bluebeard is a must-visit. The environment was relaxed and inviting, and the food was absolutely fabulous. We ordered the Mushroom Ragu and the Semi-Boneless Half Chicken—both were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. This place absolutely deserves Bib Gourmand recognition and should be high on anyone’s list when visiting Indy.

Bluebeard is one of those rare restaurants that manages to honor Indianapolis history while delivering an unforgettable dining experience. Located in a beautifully renovated 1924 warehouse in the Holy Rosary neighborhood, the space itself is a tribute to the city’s past. The restaurant’s name pays homage to Kurt Vonnegut, one of Indy’s most beloved literary icons, and the building has become a cornerstone of the neighborhood’s revitalization. It’s no surprise that Bluebeard has earned national recognition and multiple James Beard nominations.

We visited on a calm but bustling evening and had a wonderful time with friends, thanks in large part to the outstanding service from Jacob and the entire team. The atmosphere was relaxed and warm, with enough energy to feel lively but still quiet enough for easy conversation. Even with one nearby patron who hadn’t discovered the silent mode on their phone. Thankfully, someone in their party eventually rescued us all by silencing it.

We started with a round of cocktails. Monkey House, Golden Rush, and a few Lazzaroni Amaretto & Cokes, all expertly crafted and delicious. Our appetizers, the Charcuterie & Cheese and Chips & Dip, were devoured quickly and set the tone for the rest of the evening.

For dinner, our group enjoyed a spread of Gnocchi, Lumache, Garlic Brassica, Mushroom Ragu, Cauliflower, and of course, the famous Grilled Bread from Amelia’s, Bluebeard’s in‑house bakery. Every plate was beautifully presented, generously portioned, and absolutely delicious. My personal favorite was the Amelia’s Grilled Bread with Apple Butter and Sage Butter. Simple, rustic perfection.

We ended the night with decadent desserts. Our friends each savored a slice of the Pistachio Cake, while my wife and I shared the Moka, which was rich, smooth, and the perfect finale.

Bluebeard is everything a great restaurant should be: thoughtful food, exceptional service, a meaningful connection to its community, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Whether you’re a local or visiting Indianapolis, this is a must‑visit spot that showcases the very best of the city’s culinary creativity and historic charm.

The hype for this place is totally worth it and I’m glad I got to experience their artistry in food and drinks. I was meeting a friend for a Friday night dinner. We were shown to the table upon arriving at our reservation.
We ordered their famous fried Brussels sprouts, summer panzanella salad, Lumache and Vanilla cake for the dessert.
Salad was a treat and the pasta was definitely one of the best I’ve had.
Definitely going back to try more items from the menu.

Oyster was fresh and delicious.

The chicken sandwich is very messy to eat with the sauce immediately dripping. The chicken was also a little too tough to chew. Maybe something else on the menu would be better to get next time.

Had a really enjoyable dinner here! The menu is unique and interesting, and the interior is cozy and welcoming, which made the whole experience feel relaxed. We started off with chips and dip, and even though it’s simple, it was seriously fantastic—perfectly seasoned and addictive. For my main course, I went with the large panzanella salad, and it was filling, fresh, and full of flavor. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared, and the portion sizes were generous. The vibe of the place is casual but inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal with friends or a low-key dinner out. I would definitely come back if I’m in the area again—it’s one of those places where the combination of unique menu, cozy atmosphere, and tasty food makes you want to return. Highly recommend checking it out!

A unique menu and cozy interior. Went here for dinner and started off with chips and dip, which was simple, yet so fantastic. I had the large panzanella salad for my main course, which was filling. I would happily go back if I was in the area again.

Amazing food, excellent service and great ambience. Went to the restaurant with my niece and had heard good things. We started with the grilled bread and chips and dip. The bread was outstanding and had a selection of butters. The chips were okay but nothing that I would get again. Brussel sprouts were outstanding and had great flavor and texture. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor along with the grilled lettuce. My niece had one of the pasta dishes and she said it was delicious. We tried vanilla cake and peanut butter cake, both were outstanding.

Highly recommend this restaurant and can see why it is so well reviewed!!

Incredible food! Really excellent. Lower score for atmosphere is due to the noise; love the farm bookstore vibe. Also please don’t overdo the A/C so badly. Great meal.
