The chicken biryani had a similar odor, though slightly milder. We managed to serve it, but the taste was still not good. Given the expectations, I did not expect such an unpleasant smell in the food.
Other items were also below expectations. Only the goat curry was acceptable. The carrot halwa appeared to have artificial red color added, which was disappointing.
Overall, the food quality was poor, and the guests were unhappy. This was not the experience I expected from Peacock, Dublin for a special occasion like my child’s birthday.
Starters (both veg and non-veg) were very bland. The paneer curry was overly sweet, and the paneer biryani tasted bad, almost rancid, trashed it. Chicken biryani and mutton curry were slightly better than the other items, but still not impressive.
Overall, I would not recommend this place for party orders. It’s better to try the food at the restaurant first, and if you like it, then consider ordering for a party.
Food is decent and because of service guys, cleanliness, I gave 3, else no worth one star. Fish was salty and the chicken curry is bit bland.
Update: 1/12/23
Buffet was decent. Don’t think we would go again given the prices. Take out May be.
The curd rice had hard, undercooked rice, the chicken tandoori was cold and not cooked well, and the boneless biryani had barely any pieces and wasn’t refilled. The chicken tikka masala was overwhelmingly sweet — so sweet it honestly felt like it belonged in the dessert section. Veg curries were bland, Goan fish curry was mediocre, and the goat curry was the only decent dish.
The buffet looks large at first, but it’s mostly repetition — multiple sections of the same papads, onion salad, and condiments.
I had a buffet here years ago and remember not wanting to return, but gave it another try due to friends insisting. Unfortunately, Peacock continues to be consistently mediocre, especially for $27 per head (incl. tax).
Please work on flavors, food quality, invest on proper chefs and overall service. There’s lot of potential here in Pleasanton, but it’s not reflected in the buffet.
Update 1/24: Food quality has gone down a bit since last time I visited. As some others posted, several dishes were WAY tooo sweet (in an off-putting way) and some of the meat dishes were only lukewarm. Still mostly ok otherwise but updating food from 5 stars to 3 stars.
