I had a really awkward experience at Steak and Shake. I had a hankering for a hot dog and a grilled cheese. I checked Google Maps to see what time Steak and Shake in Woodstock GA was open until. Google maps says 12:00 AM. It was only 9:30 so I figured I had plenty of time and headed out that direction. I pulled in, drove around the restaurant and parked up front. I saw someone inside then race to the front doors and then go back in towards the rear of the restaurant. As I came up to the front doors I found them both locked. I looked at my phone and it was 9:51. I looked at the door and it said Dining open until 10, drive through 12:00 AM. Okay, so the info on Google maps is misleading. I took a minute or two getting in my car and planning my next move. I decided to go through the drive through; a new experience for me at least at Steak and Shake. When I got to the drive through order menu and speaker I was greeted by the voice of Brady, who I am pretty sure was the sprinting door locker. He was extremely friendly and polite. He quickly took my order and told me to pull up to the window and pay. I paid at the window and got my receipt. The receipt shows my order was in at 9:56. The receipt (attached) also shows ‘Samantha’ was the host. But the person I interfaced with for the order, paying at the window, and then delivering the food, identified themselves as Brady. The food showed up amazingly quick and I drove around the front of the store and parked in the same spot. I finished my hot dog and grilled cheese and looked at the time on my phone and it was 10:04. I’m positive I was out of the parking lot by 10:05.

So two issues. Google maps would be better if it showed a dine in and drive through schedule for restaurants, so people know before they arrive. And enterprises should be ashamed to have employees run to the front door to lock customers out, and then run back in and hide in the back of the restaurant. That was the dumbest most awkward restaurant thing I have experienced in a long time. They could have easily handled that better than they did. Like most other service jobs, I expect they are staffed with a very inexperienced workforce who are ill equipped to recognize the benefit to the company of speaking to customers when there is an issue.

On the plus side, the food came up very quick, after the awkward move, Brady was very polite, and the food was at least at the level of quality I expect from Steak and Shake.

But I won’t forget the sprint, lock, and hide experience for a long, long time.

so yummy!! while the service is different than it used to be (you order at a kiosk and pick it up at the counter) the food is still just as delicious and comes out quick. they keep the place clean and it’s affordable!

Steak ’n Shake is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by David, who is an absolute rockstar. He was so kind, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome. His customer service is top-notch—he went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic dining experience. You can tell he truly cares about the customers, and that kind of service makes all the difference!

Now, let’s talk about the food—WOW! The burgers are hands down some of the best I’ve ever had. You can taste the quality in every bite, thanks to their use of beef tallow, which gives the burgers and fries that rich, nostalgic flavor that you just can’t find anywhere else. Everything is always cooked to perfection, fresh, and bursting with flavor.

The restaurant itself is spotless, well-maintained, and has a classic, inviting atmosphere. And to top it all off, the prices are super affordable, making it an incredible value for such high-quality food.

If you’re looking for a delicious, budget-friendly meal with exceptional service, Steak ‘n Shake is the place to be. And if you’re lucky enough to have David take care of you, you’re in for an even better experience! I’ll definitely be back again and again!

Every now and then you gotta have a good ole greasy smash burger and not too many chains have anything on Steak and shake. My wife and I really like this location. We me the young lady that is the franchise owner there and she talked with us for a bit. She really was personable and friendly and made us feel quite welcome in her restaurant.

Waited over 30 minutes for our food. When we got milkshakes they were melted. They were out of ALL condiments on the counter. No mayo, no seasoning, no NAPKINS. When our food came out the guy was rude about it and told us we couldn’t have no more than 4 seasoning salts and 4 napkins because they were “running low.” They have a wisk sitting on the counter for the 30 mins and picked it up for the tea to use it. How DISGUSTING. Our order was wrong and food was cold. Also it’s dirty. Dirty rags and trash all over the floor. I’m from Dallas and thought nothing was worse than the Hiram location. But this place was 100 times worse. WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE.

I ordered a burger combo with a shake and the only thing they got right was the shake 🙁 All the burger had was a patty and buns. No sauce, and none of the vegetables I asked for. The top bun was dry and cold and the bottom bun was cold and covered with grease. I dont usually mind mediocre service from fast food places but this was extremely disappointing.

It’s all done at kiosks now. So be prepared to have patience. Drinks are qr coded. Only aloud a certain amount of refills and if you aren’t fast enough, you loose your chance to get a drink! Bathroom was bottom level port a potty smell. Fries were horrid, burger was ok, noone around to get help from if there was a problem. Definitely not coming back. I get that employees are hard to get but when you take away human interaction, it can hurt business.

I came through the drive thru on Dec 30th about 1:15p. There were two cars ahead of me. From the beginning of taking the order, I felt rushed. I ordered 3 meals and after speaking each meal, I got “is that it?” When I pulled to the window I forgot to get cheese sauce and I asked the young gentleman at the window” would u be so mad if I added a cup of cheese. I got no response & he said my total ($37.68), took my phone to pay, closed the window and rolled his eyes . Went and got the cheese sauce. Literally threw them in the bag. Opened the window, didn’t say a word. Handed me my food and drinks and closed the window. This gentleman shouldn’t work in this line of work if this is how he gets if he gets any kind of busy. I do believe his name was Brayden. Employees like this make you not want to return to this location.

Ate here for dinner before trick-or-treating. It was empty. Place was decent in cleanliness. No one greeted us and no one takes your order anymore. You order from a kiosk then they call you number when food is ready. The food was good. Shakes come in a nice frozen glass still. Love it.
