They ran out of muhammara right after I ordered it and the cook was very apologetic; fortunately, the hummus and falafel they offered as a sub were amazing. The falafel was my favorite kind: *super* crunchy in the outside and soft, fluffy bright green inside. All of the food was presented beautifully, and the dish ware was beautiful to boot; everything felt very premium. I tried Kurdish coffee for the first time, too, which was fun. The serving size was much smaller than expected, but it also came with a small sweet in the side! The flavor was lovely, though, so I wasn’t disappointed whatsoever.
The WiFi was solid, there were wall and floor outlets for laptop and phone charging, and the music they played was mellow and feel-good.
I will 100% be back.
Alongside their well-made coffee, they also offer a selection of delicious desserts and comforting dishes inspired by Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors. Everything feels thoughtfully prepared, from the presentation to the taste, adding even more depth to the whole experience.
It’s definitely one of those places you find yourself wanting to return to. I’m certain I’ll be back again to enjoy the cozy ambiance, great coffee, and flavorful food.
I tried the shawarma wrap, and they were fantastic juicy and full of flavor. The Shakshuka Sandwich was also delicious and just the right comfort food. We loved the matcha drink, it was creamy and refreshing. Plus, their pastries were delicious , fresh and tasty. The staff were amazing there, very hospitable, we really enjoyed our time there.
Nubar Café is a hidden gem in the heart of Albany Park—a true drop of sunshine! The feng shui layout and soft natural light make it feel like a mini oasis, whether it’s the middle of winter or a bright summer afternoon. The sunlight alone feels like a vitamin D boost, but then there’s the espresso—smooth, rich, and always perfectly made—and a beautiful array of French patisserie delights that look (and taste) like art.
It’s also an excellent spot for working or simply slowing down. The music is calm, the tables are well-spaced, Wi-Fi is fast, outlets are accessible, and the bathrooms are spotless. Nubar has mastered that rare balance between energy and tranquility. Come for a pastry, stay for the peace, and enjoy the beauty of being fully present.
My friend and I tried the pistachio latte, the brunch duo (lentil soup and shakshuka sandwich) and the mezze plate.
I’m not a coffee fan but my take on the latte is that it’s missing the infusion of pistachio flavor. Eventhough it comes with the rich paste, it doesn’t really dissolve inside the drink and precipitates at the bottom. However it’s not too sweet which is a plus.
I really like the lentil soup, it’s smooth, flavorful and creamy. The shakshuka sandwich is undersalted and unimpressive. The bread came out kind of burnt as pictured but the owner noticed and offered us another order. We appreciate her gesture as it reflects her dedication and commitment to her work. The mezze plate is great, I like how creamy the labneh is. The falafel is crispy but also a little flavorless.
Nubar is still in their soft opening phase so they have time to improve. They also have great desserts that we haven’t gotten to try. Overall, I would recommend this place as it has potentials and amazing people who care about the customers.
The first thing that really stood out to me was the ambiance. The space is absolutely beautiful — cozy, warm, calm, and thoughtfully designed. Everything from the lighting to the layout makes you feel comfortable and relaxed the moment you walk in. It’s one of those places where you immediately feel at ease, whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee or planning to stay for a while.
I tried their tiramisu latte, and it was incredible. You can tell it’s made with care — smooth, rich, and full of flavor without being too sweet. Also ordered the avocado toast with arugula and dressing, and it tasted amazing. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared. Simple ingredients, but done so well.
We also tried one of their plates (photo attached), and it was just as impressive. Beautifully presented and delicious. You can truly feel the hard work and love that goes into their food and drinks.
The staff deserves a special mention too — everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and kind. The energy in the café is full of good vibes, and it really makes a difference.
This café is also a perfect spot for working or studying. It’s quiet, comfortable — the kind of environment that makes you want to be productive while enjoying great coffee and food at the same time.
Supporting a small business like this feels really good, especially when you can see how much effort is being put into every detail. They are doing a good job, and I sincerely hope they keep up the great work and continue to grow and succeed. Albany Park needed a place like this. Def would go back!
