Breakfast is $47 per person plus service charge. Honestly, that’s basically Holiday Inn–level breakfast with the only difference being smoked salmon. Completely not worth the price.
For visitors: walk five minutes to the right to Mala Ocean Tavern. Better food, better service, and you’re right in front of the ocean.
Dinner at Coral Reef is even worse. The menu tries too hard to be “creative” and ends up being overly greasy, overly salty and poorly executed. They use sweet potato starch pasta as a substitute for Italian pasta — imagine a sticky, gluey mess. They also did the same with Japanese udon, which came out stiff and unpleasant.
Service is practically nonexistent. When you ask for recommendations, the answer is basically “the more expensive one is better.” Food prices are far above the actual quality.
Ironically, the pool bar at the Sheraton is much better than this restaurant.
The beet salad was actually the only dish that was okay and reasonably balanced. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended.
My wife’s mushroom ravioli was overly salty and greasy, making it difficult to enjoy. I ordered the enoki beef dish with shredded beef, and it was also extremely greasy and far too salty. The oiliness completely overpowered the dish. I finished it only because I was hungry, not because it was good.
The restaurant was nearly empty, with only a couple of other tables, which unfortunately reflected the overall experience. For a restaurant in a Sheraton hotel, the food quality was a major letdown.
Overall, poor execution and disappointing flavors. We wouldn’t return.
I’ll speak to the dinner which surprisingly only has a handful of reviews at the moment. We got the chopped salad, butternut squash ravioli, and the special that night was lamb chops macadamia nut encrusted. Honestly was the best dinner we had, tied with Mamas Fish House which was triple the price.
The service was fine, the vibe is definitely slow and like a breakfast kitchen that is trying to make a living with dinner options as well. So there’s no bar to hang out at, although they do serve drinks for dinner. So atmosphere is only 4/5, but definitely worth the food especially if you’re staying at the hotel and want a really good meal.
