I was happy to see they opened this location as I like the one located downtown. I’ve learned not all locations are the same. I ordered some waffles to go and I am glad I checked them before leaving because they were overcooked. I had them remake them, but these tasted just ok. They were accommodating, but in their open kitchen, I could see the cook was not too happy. For the price, I will not return to this location.

Was so excited to try this place, but was overall disappointed. Ordered the half gluten free plain waffle and half hashbrown waffle. The gf waffle was gummy and dense with no flavor, similar to plain grits. The hasbrown tasted like bagged, frozen tots. For the price, it was disappointing that there wasn’t real maple syrup or butter and they used single serve packets of ketchup and creamer. The server was nice and helpful and it was nice to hear he and the cook communicating back and forth.

We ate here for the first time on a recent visit to Richmond, VA. The restaurant had a fun atmosphere with lots of waffle-related decor. There was a good selection of items, and we were able to find something for everyone in our party that included a mix of children and adults. The waffles are very creative, and they offer various types, from savory to sweet. They also offer egg dishes and breakfast tacos if you’re not in the mood for a waffle. This is definitely a cool little cafe to check out if you’re looking for a breakfast or brunch spot. And there’s a good selection of drinks, alcohol as well, for everyone in the group.

Waffles are amazing and menu is pretty unique. My kids and I loved it! Will come back again. Prices are reasonable. I was only able to eat half of the waffle. Pretty good portion of food. I got the piggy spicy chicken waffle with queso and chorizo!

Cool diner type waffle place. Started out great with a mimosa garnished with a delicious donut style waffle corner.
I ordered the buffalo chicken waffle. The wife had the veg out with a side of chicken tenders. She did ask for her eggs to be over easy, where we learned they do not have the specific license required to do anything but scrambled eggs. Blew our minds. The scrambled were still good, but yoke would’ve been preferred.
The chicken, however, was pathetic. Some of the worst chicken tenders I’ve ever had. Mostly breading and extremely dry. I recommend taking the chicken off the menu until a new tendie source can be found.
Overall the are tasty and fluffy. The waffle was great. But I will not return until I know the chicken have been improved dramatically.

Reading the reviews and by word of mouth, a couple of friends and I decided to eat at Capitol Waffle Shop on Midlothian Turnpike. To start, the menu was very overwhelming. When my food arrived, the presentation was very sloppy and could have been better. When my food arrived, the plate looked dirty. The area above the food preparation station was very dusty and unsanitary. The hallway to the bathroom was more of a storage holding area. The shirts on the wall had dust on them and should be taken down.

Fantastic waffles with a myriad of toppings. I have no notes. I had the ‘Lil Chicken Piggy (red plate) and my gf had the Western (white plate). 1/2 was plenty for both of us, and we had just enough room for a Fraffle (think apple fritter waffle). The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the staff was incredibly friendly.

Went here for brunch around noon on a Sunday. Was seated quickly, but it took about 30 minutes to recieve our order. I had the Grandma Waffle, with strawberries, blueberries, eggs and chicken. The chicken had no flavor whatsoever, tasted like something from the grocery frozen food section. The waffle itself also didn’t have much flavor, neither did the eggs. The fruit was very fresh and tasted good. The western waffle wasn’t bad, but suffered from the same issues with the lack of flavor in the eggs and waffle. The jalapenos were good, not too spicy.

I visited several months back to try their waffle. They were busy that day and the waffle machine wasn’t working properly. I waited a long time to receive a waffle that was crumbled up. They apologized for the inconvenience and gave it to me for free but I didn’t eat it.
Waited several months and decided to give them another try. This time their service was faster but the waffle was gooey on the inside. The employee mentioned the waffle machine hasn’t been working properly and has been giving them issues. They remade the waffle but it was still gooey inside. The manager gave an explanation regarding the batter that didn’t make sense to me. I was given a refund.
I believe this could be a decent restaurant but both of my experiences with the food were unsatisfactory. They need to resolve whatever is causing the waffles to come out gooey inside. I wouldn’t recommend the food here based on both of my experiences.

Absolutely amazing! If you’re looking for gourmet waffles with a twist, this place is a must-visit. I ordered the buffalo chicken waffle, and it was out of this world! The combination of crispy chicken and the perfect amount of heat paired with a fluffy waffle was incredible. They have a great selection of breakfast and dessert waffles too, so there’s something for everyone.
The cafe is cozy with plenty of seating, but they also offer convenient carry-out if you’re on the go. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Whether you’re stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or dessert, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend!
