Reviews
At first the food was generally excellent and we enjoyed eating here frequently. Over time, sadly, this began to change. One of the low points occurred in May 2016 when a dead fly dropped out of my “Grilled Quinoa + Veg Burger” (see image #3) as I was biting into it.
We periodically returned, hoping that things would change for the better. Though there have been ups along with the downs, the general trend unfortunately has been in a definite downward direction.
When we gave the restaurant another try yesterday, the avocado pieces on our tasteless kale salad were highly oxidized (dark spots prominently visible, as illustrated in the attached image). The tacos were soggy and the lettuce inside was wilted. The fries were dried out from being overcooked.
Sorry to report that this was one of the most pathetic meals we’ve experienced at this restaurant—or any other, for that matter. Oh, well: at least there were no dead flies in our food. This is probably the last time we’ll ever eat here.
On a positive note, the guy at the cash register who took our order and brought the “food” to our table was very pleasant. We tipped him well. The star is for him.

“What’s for lunch?” Oxidized avocado, soggy tacos, wilted lettuce, overcooked fries.

Blackened/oxidized avocado pieces. Was the food preparer really expecting that we’d be thinking, “Oh, yummy!”

The fly that dropped out of my Veg Burger on a previous visit. The manager on site at the time claimed that this hadn’t really happened (!).
I ordered the taco salad and the 3-bean chili, and both were honestly terrible. The tangy pepper sauce tasted off, almost spoiled, with a weird “wang” to it. The walnut meat was extremely dry and completely flavorless. The taco bowl shell also seemed undercooked, which made the whole dish even worse.
The 3-bean chili was just as bad. No depth of flavor, and overall very unpleasant to eat. I would give the food a 0.5 out of 10 for taste.
I ended up throwing both of those items away with only a few bites out of each.
The only decent item was the salted chocolate chip cookie.
For how much hype this place gets, the food was a major letdown. I won’t be returning.
They need to hire staff. Those workers needed help.
I’d definitely recommend this place as a dine-in option – seating/ambience is very open and upscale-feeling.
He was very rude and showed poor customer service. He also said we needed to be charged for sauce as well. We were very upset and told him we would be leaving a review about how he handled the situation. He didn’t seem to care at all.
Thankfully, Herberth otero completely saved our night. He was very welcoming, had a great smile, and provided excellent customer service. Because of him, our night was saved and we were still able to enjoy our dinner. Kudos to Herberth!
I highly recommend not going to Veggie Grill if Alex zelaya works there. However, I would gladly change my one-star review to five stars if the company let Alex go.He doesn’t deserve to be a manager
The staff is always friendly and patient, making every visit feel welcoming. The food is absolutely amazing — I love the nachos and the classic burger. The new fried cheese bites are wow — a must-try! I’ve also had the protein plates and really enjoyed them. And don’t skip dessert — the ice cream is creamy and delicious.
Highly recommend!
