Really cool little spot with old school charm. Lots of bluesy decorations. They serve a nice Nashville style hot chicken. I got the two piece white, breast and wing. The breast was surprisingly juicy and very tasty. The coleslaw on the side was good, not swamped with mayo and had a good crunch to it. I enjoyed my meal here. The breading wasn’t particularly crispy in many places but had an enjoyable mild heat to it and was nicely crisp in some places. I also ordered the fried green tomatoes which were decent but underwhelming. The breading was very thick and the tomatoes didn’t seem to be seasoned much if at all so didn’t have much flavor. This place is definitely worth checking out if you’ve been wanting to try some Nashville hot chicken but don’t want to drive all the way there!

Came by to check out the hype from coworker. It was okay. Maybe the original location is more legit. We had hot chicken in TN before just not this chain.
We do find the chicken very moist but super oily and salty. Thank god we got some sides to chase the saltiness. I had to refill my lemonade because it was unbearable. So Can’t justify the Hype may need to go to TN again to check out the origin.
Out side of the food Service was good though. I do like the decor it felt like the 60’s.

First time visit. We were seated and served fairly quickly. Typical southern fried chicken and sides. The chicken is spicy and juicy – the skins fried to a crispy golden brown while the inside is tender and full of flavor. The coleslaw and Mac n’cheese is good.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised about this place. I had never heard of it before but was told they had the best fried chicken so I decided to stop by. The chicken was really really good. Light and crisp without a lot of batter and seasoned very well. If you don’t like spicy food then be careful as the chicken has a little kick to it. Definitely recommend

The deep fried chicken is coated with thin batter. The meat was marinated that you’d know all the ingredients were perfectly absorbed into the meat. A little bit salty but is well balance with the sides.

Friendly staff. Clean and fun decor. Chicken was nicely done. A bit of a spicy seasoning. Crispy, tender, delicious. Fried green tomatoes were good. Mac and cheese pasta was overdone but cheese was good.

The food is excellent. The following is what I had. The two piece white meat meal (breast & wing + 2 sides. I chose slaw and potato salad) with sweet tea. For dessert I had the chocolate chess pie (It is exceptional and in my opinion best with a scoop of ice cream)
The music is also great inside the restaurant.

Love the chicken here. Very fresh and plenty of variety. The usual wing specials of 4 wings and 1 side for $10 is a great deal. Wings are seasoned really well with a hint of spice

Now usually, I am EXCITED and satisfied about Gus’s Fried Chicken. But this time, not so much.
This time, the chicken smelled like it was cooked in old grease. A VERY strong smell. My dad loves Gus’s too and decided that he wanted to still taste it because he was looking forward to it. He said it still tasted as we know it to taste. I didn’t want to try it.
I had the 3 white meat plate with the sides of baked beans and coleslaw. However, I didn’t keep the baked beans because I don’t eat pork and its in there. The coleslaw was absolutely disgusting. They should allow you to choose your own sidea instead of charging you to substitute for another one.
Lastly, I wanted to try the mac n cheese. HORRIBLE!! Everything about it!
I’ve visited Gus’s in Chicago, Detroit and here in MD – MD has been my worst experience! Shame, because it’s where I live.

I always pass by this place and wonder if it’s any good.. The exterior looks run down and the restaurant that it was before Gus’s took over looked shabby too. Well, one day I decided to try it out and I’m so glad I did!! The chicken here is amazing! It’s really crispy and just the perfect amount of spicy and still juicy on the inside. (The two dark piece plate was just right for me.) I asked really enjoyed the come slaw and the baked beans were delicious as well. (On the sweeter side, which is how I like them.) I got a side of fried okra because I always have to try it out when I see it on the menu and it was also really crispy and yummy. They served it with a side of ranch, which was perfect. My nonsweet iced tea could have used more lemon, but that’s a minor quibble. And as for the interior, it is really shabby, but it seems to be on purpose. It was a bit sparse, but it was clean and the servers were friendly, so I didn’t mind. Will DEFINITELY be going back for their addictive fried chicken!
