My experience at Steak 48 was nothing short of extraordinary. They went above and beyond to make my one-year wedding anniversary (and 11-year relationship anniversary) the most special day of my life.
From the moment I walked in, the hostess was incredibly kind and welcoming — even complimenting me, which honestly made me feel like a celebrity. We were escorted to a private booth beautifully decorated with rose petals on the table, a detail that completely took my breath away.
The surprises didn’t stop there. At the end of our meal, we were treated to a complimentary slice of cake and an unexpected gift of champagne glasses, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch.
The food was absolutely immaculate. I love how the steaks are served on hot plates so they continue cooking at the table — perfection. And the mac and cheese? Easily the best in the city, no contest.
Every single detail — the service, the ambiance, the generosity, the warmth — was flawless. Steak 48 didn’t just give us dinner; they gave us a lifelong memory. Hands down, the best restaurant in Chicago.
Our server Yazmin was incredible and made us feel welcomed from start to end. She also was very knowledgeable of the menu and dish options and answered all questions. She made sure we had everything we needed while serving the entire upstairs plus the private party on the terrace.
The service was impeccable. Our servers were attentive without being intrusive, making sure we had everything we needed. The highlight, of course, was the food—each dish was of the highest quality, served on sizzling 500-degree plates that kept our steaks perfectly warm throughout the meal. Every bite was a testament to the chef’s skill and dedication.
And let’s not forget the cocktails! They were crafted to perfection, complementing our meals beautifully. To top off our experience, Bianca even called me after dinner to ensure we enjoyed our time, which truly exemplified the level of care they provide.
If you’re looking for a top-notch dining experience that combines fantastic food, exceptional service, and a warm atmosphere, Steak 48 is the place to go. Highly recommend!
Tonight we celebrated our first wedding anniversary and the team went above and beyond to make us feel so special. We got the waitress we requested, a card, “happy anniversary” written in chocolate on our dessert plates, etc. It was such a wonderful evening! We have to shoutout Fernanda for being such a FABULOUS server/human, Kris, Frank, and the rest of the team for being simply amazing.
They have practically ensured that as long as we are close we will be celebrating at Steak 48 in the future! Cheers!
The food 10/10, never had a complaint once anytime I dined here. It’s definitely a dinner to remember and sets a very high standard.
Tonight, my family and I visited STEAK 48 in Chicago to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, a meaningful Chinese holiday. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a special celebration turned into a deeply disappointing experience due to the poor service and unreasonable policies.
From the moment we were seated, our waitress Daisy seemed noticeably unfriendly. While she was warm and attentive to other tables, she barely paid us any attention. We brushed it off at first, but things got worse. Before we had even finished our wine and steak, she asked if we wanted the plates cleared–something we’ve never experienced at a restaurant of this caliber.
To honor the festival, we brought a small mooncake–about the size of a cookie–and politely asked for an extra plate. The staff provided one without mentioning any extra charge. It wasn’t until we received the bill that we discovered a $18 “outside food fee.” No one had informed us of this policy, even though several staff members were nearby when we took out the mooncake.
When we spoke to the manager to express our concerns, his attitude was dismissive and condescending. He insisted that “everyone should know” about their outside food policy and made no effort to acknowledge our perspective. We explained that, had we been informed, we would not have consumed the mooncake there, especially since we were already full from our meal. Charging $18 for a symbolic, bite-sized treat feels unreasonable and unfairly targeted–it left us feeling discriminated against, perhaps because we are foreigners.
To clarify why the $18 fee is particularly unreasonable: we had already spent a significant amount on steaks and wine. The mooncake was a tiny, symbolic item for our festival, not a substitute for any dessert on their menu. Charging a fee that is typically applied to large outside cakes or bottles of wine for something of this size and nature is completely disproportionate and lacks common sense. It felt like a penalty for celebrating our own culture, rather than a fair policy.
Between the inconsistent service, lack of policy transparency, and the manager’s unprofessional response, we felt completely disrespected as customers. There is no service at all. It’s not worth a tip at all .We will not be returning, and we cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.
