Freshly made from scratch, our cheese fondues showcase a unique blend of American cheeses with a French technique. Choose among our (large) selection of fondues then add some fun with sides of veggies or cured meats for an extra dip! You’ve heard about fondue and you think cheese is all to it… Bourguignonne fondue, as in from Burgundy, is a meat fondue where you dip pieces of meat in a cauldron of hot oil. Here at Taureau we have an amazing selection of oils to dip in! Pair the oil/broth of your choice with filet mignon, hanger steak, pork tenderloin or chicken and enjoy with our home made dipping sauces! For dessert, indulge in the craziest treat as you dip fresh fruits, cakes and marshmallows in your dark or milk chocolate fondue…

My mom and I have been searching for a great fondue spot in NYC ever since our old favorite, Artisanal, closed — and Taureau completely filled that void. It was fantastic from start to finish.

We stopped in after a matinee show and were pleasantly surprised to walk right in and get a table. It was quiet when we arrived, which gave us a lovely, intimate start to the experience, but by dinner time the place was packed. Based on how quickly it filled up, I’d definitely recommend reservations for evening dining.

The service was exceptional. Our waiter and the entire staff were attentive without being intrusive, and they really elevated the experience.

We ordered all three fondues — cheese, meat, and chocolate. The Old Swiss cheese fondue was incredible and a generous portion. We added potatoes and apples for dipping; the potatoes were great, but the apples were absolutely divine and paired perfectly with the cheese.

For the meat course, they were out of filet mignon, so we chose hanger steak instead — and it ended up being a happy surprise. I’m not usually a hanger steak person, but it was tender and full of flavor. Our waiter guided us on cooking time so we could get the perfect medium. We chose canola oil for cooking and were glad we did; another table used olive oil and the aroma was a bit strong for my taste. Even without seasoning, the meat was flavorful thanks to the herb- and vegetable-infused oil. The sauces were excellent, especially the truffle mushroom sauce — I could have eaten it by itself.

The only tiny change I would have made: I ordered bread that arrived with the meat, but I wish I’d had it with the cheese course instead. Still, a minor detail in an otherwise perfect meal.

For dessert, the milk chocolate fondue came with an enormous platter of fruit, cakes, marshmallows, and treats. It was so good we joked about trying to take it back to our hotel room.

Overall, this was a 10/10 experience. If you love fondue, this place is a must. It’s especially perfect after a matinee when the wait is minimal, but make reservations for dinner — it gets busy for a reason.

Me and a friend went here a few weeks ago. It was fabulous and our waitress with the blonde hair and deep French accent was SO helpful and kind the entire night. The truffle oil infused cheese was delectable and not overpowering with the oil. Highly recommended going here for fondue!

We recently visited Taureau in New York for the second time and, unfortunately, it was a letdown compared to our first experience. The restaurant felt dated, dusty, and not as well-maintained as we remembered. For the price, the overall atmosphere and cleanliness just didn’t match the expectation.

We ordered the fondue, which was decent but not particularly memorable. We also tried the meat selection, and found it to be underwhelming. The quality just wasn’t what you’d hope for given the cost.

It’s disappointing because we had high hopes based on our previous visit, but this time it just didn’t deliver. Overall, a mediocre experience and I would probably not return.

Great food great customer service only complaint is I thought the wine broth was a part of the $60 for two meal the broth it self was $60 wow I wish the waitress told me it wasn’t included.
However great place great experience.

This is absolutely my favorite fondue place, even better than anywhere I’ve been in France and Switzerland. The truffle fondue is out of this world, and the chef’s idea to bake the croutons was simply genius!! It makes the perfect combination. I’ve actually read some reviews complaining about this, but this person might not know that you need to completely dip your piece of bread in the pot and stir the bottom. Fondue is made of a combination of cheeses, and each have a different density. Therefore, with every bite, you need to stir your cheese in the fondue pot to ensure you’re picking up all the flavor. Simply delicious!

“Fondue is a delicacy that everyone must try at least once! I loved the variety on the menu—we tried both the Swiss style and the mixed chocolate, and both were delicious. The restaurant is cozy and small, so I highly recommend making a reservation since it stays full from open to close. This is the perfect spot for couples looking to create special memories; you won’t forget how amazing the food was!”

This place is a staple for a great long night out, highly suggest! Always going with the full three course option which gives you cheese fondue with bread and salad, a protein course cooked in red wine broth, and finally a delicious chocolate course.

The prices may seem pretty high at first and then you realise it is more of an experience than any other sit down restaurant. You actually get to share the time together with whoever you have gone with, dipping or cooking your own meal together while indulging. This is totally a different experience than getting the meal placed in front of you and you eat and leave. You can easily spend two hours here if they let you on a non-busy night.

Food is great, ambiance is nice, and the price is fair. Definitely would suggest checking out Taureau!

Place is very nice and food is tasty, but disappointing to see dogs being put inside especially with the open food. To eat fondue and cook your own food with a dog next to you shaking its fur and moving around the waiters and servers is poor health etiquette especially for customers who may be allergic

I was craving fondue and learned there are not many places in NYC that does the whole thing. Taureau was great, they accept all forms of payment even though resy says otherwise. We got cheese and chocolate fondue and enjoyed it.
