Catsu
Absolutely the best katsu place in the Midwest. I even liked here better than average donkatsu places in South Korea.
Food are awsome, atmosphere is warm and calm. We’ve been visiting this place 1-2 times a month. Various side dishes are also the one I really love.

Extremely affordable. The katsu bento boxes are quite tasty! Loved the food in general but their sushi isn’t to my preference — for example, seems like most of the rolls are the same base (imitation crab, avocado, etc) and then topped with the meat of choice. I don’t love that and would choose sashimi next time because of it.
Excellent Japanese music was playing too, which made me smile.

We had our lunch here today. It’s much more modern and cleaner inside than outside (look wise). They have a few vegetarian options. We ordered Tofu Katsu, Potato Korokke and veg Sushi. Staff was very friendly.

Almost cried when I took a bite because it instantly reminded me of Korea Honestly, the cheese katsu is better than the one’s I’ve had there. Having 3 different side dishes per well and the effort of making every single item in the bento box so delicious reflects how much care and detail was put into making this. I normally never leave reviews, but this was so amazing. I will be back over and over again until the day I leave STL. Also, we got a little side dish on the house which was super tasty

This is definitely a quick service type of restaurant. The food comes out fast, hot and pretty dang good. The quality of the chicken surprised me. It was white meat and cooked perfectly. The portion of chicken was also nice. I could not finish my bento because there was so much. The sauce served with it was also good.
The only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the kimchi, but everyone likes theirs differently so it may be better to others. I like mine a little more fermented and smidge less salty. Nothing to complain about though!
The crab rangoon had a different filling than any others I’ve tried. I’ve had some that are more garlicky or sweet but these were savory with a little twang, maybe hint of sriracha. They’re pretty good. I like that you can actually taste the crab stick too.
I think if I’m looking for a quick bite in the area I’ll definitely go back and try the pork and cheese katsu.
Staff were super kind, especially the woman at the register showing us photos and explaining the menu. They made sure we had the containers to get our leftovers packed up and were just overall incredibly friendly.

Enjoyed the food. It was freshly made to order. We had the chicken katsu set, pork katsu set, cheese katsu set & curry. All the food was delicious. There was enough food in the servings that you feel full but just right not to over eat. My kids loved the food and even ate all the veggies. They loved the wasabi & kimchi. The bathroom could be cleaner but not too shabby. This is a great place to enjoy Japanese cutlets. Definitely coming back!

I’ve ate there two times now and I think the second time was even better than the first. For a brand new restaurant on the loop, this is perfect. The pricing couldn’t be better either for how fresh everything is. The sushi tastes amazing. I love the bento box with sides of everything because I get the chance to try it all instead of just eating a sushi roll. The box is also custom and just totally aesthetic. Working across the street may be dangerous as I feel myself becoming a frequent flyer at Katsuya.
If you’re thinking about trying this place… just do it. Don’t think any further or read any more reviews… and then come back and write one since it was spectacular.

I randomly stopped by for lunch one day and, wow, am I glad I did. I decided to go for the Chicken Katsu, and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and tasted great with their selection of dips (they offer a few choices). The bento box was a pleasant surprise, coming with two pieces of sushi, a salad, what I think was a seaweed salad, and one other item I can’t quite remember. I also got a side of gyoza. The portion was generous, especially for lunch. This place is also a great introduction for those new to sushi, like myself. Impressed, I returned a week later and ordered another Chicken Katsu and a full roll during their $6 special.

Katsuya is located on the Delmar Loop in St. Louis, MO. It offers Japanese cuisine. This is a counter order spot. Very quick service.
I want everyone to know that I now think bento boxes are superior. With a focus on premium ingredients, katsuya’s bento boxes featuring katsu and sushi are huge and delicious.
We tried the vegetable rolls, fried shrimp katsu and katsuya roll bento box. All were fresh and fantastic.
Perfect foodie Friday lunch.

Meals come fresh and Portions are good sized. The sides that come together in the bento box are tasty and complement well the katsu.
