We started with an order of Egg Rolls as an appetizer. The three rolls were a crispy vegetable type with a very enjoyable sweet chili sauce on the side. The egg rolls were a good size, but unfortunately, we had already eaten two before I took a picture. Sorry for the picture of just one roll.
My wife had a Bento Box with shrimp Teriyaki. The Bento box was served with tempura, steamed rice, gyoza (wonton wrappers stuffed with pork and cabbage), California Sushi, soup, and a house dressing. My wife had a choice of either Miso or Hibachi soup. She picked the Hibachi soup which was awesome. The house salad arrived with a very good ginger dressing. My wife enjoyed all of this very much. She stated it all was very flavorful. The Bento box serving was fairly large, plan on getting a to-go box.
I had one of the Teriyaki Dishes with chicken and New York steak. The dish was served with steamed rice and a house salad. Like my wife I also had a choice of either Miso or Hibachi soup. I also enjoyed the Hibachi soup, too. The servings of rice, salad, and soup were a nice size. My Teriyaki dish arrived with various vegetables in a very good Teriyaki sauce. This was one of those dishes you didn’t have to look under the vegetables to find the meat. The chicken and beef were good. But, I would have to say the beef was a bit chewy. It wasn’t to a point where you thought you could blow bubbles with the beef. You just have to chewy on it a few more moments. This wouldn’t stop me from ordering the dish again.
The serving sizes and the value of what you spend make Masa a must-try the next time you’re looking for very pleasing Japanese food.
