Coming from Union/Maplewood area, I have eaten a lot of Portuguese BBQ. This place is legit! So far I’ve only had the pork ribs and the chicken but both slam hard! If you know then you know and if you don’t, then try it with an open mind. This is my second time ordering in week. The veggies and beans are awesome. The fries are typical, soggy when doing take out. Not horrible. Try it all and support this place. Throw some hot sauce on those ribs and chicken and you’re in heaven. Don’t forget the shrimp in garlic sauce with plenty of bread and treat yourself to a Sumol!

Upon walking up to the restaurant, the aroma of a hardwood barbecue took me right back to Portugal!! This is an amazing restaurant!! I had the chicken & rib combo. Look at those pictures! Beautiful, very tasty, and succulent portions!! I told the manager I was diabetic and they substituted the rice and fries for veggies. Very accommodating!!
I met the owner. Turns out he is a successful restaurateur. He has a few of these type Portuguese barbecue restaurants. He has a passion for it and you can hear it when he talks about his establishments. I enjoyed very much my conversation with him.
I will 100% be back and I have a 45 minute drive to get there!!

What a fantastic place. Brand new, fantastic food
Stephanie and I tried a new place today in Hazlet, Galitos portugrse real wood bbq, fantastic and amazing food and clean, nice people and amazing food steph got secreto sandwich and i got the ribs.
I posted menu, great prices i had the 1/2 portion of the mixed grill. And we have tons of leftovers. Really first rate 10 stars

Hands down this is the place to go for traditional Portuguese bbq which is sorely lacking in CNJ. Everything to the chicken, beef ribs, pork ribs, fries, beans, and especially the garlic shrimp is amazing. And to add the icing to the cake….they carry Sumol. Apologizes for half eaten food pictures but it will give the scope of how much food you get as 4 people are filled from it.

I wish I took pictures…what a wonderful meal. BBQ chicken, rice and fries. Huge amount off food. Delicious and enough for lunch. While waiting about 10 minutes the owner offered me dessert, as we talked about Portugal. Highly recommend !

Not having to drive out to Long Branch for some great Portuguese/Brazilian cuisine is such a treat. This is a family place, friendly, casual and above all, great food! There is a decent sized dining room with ample elbow room.
The food here speaks for itself. Solid and everything cooked to order. Nothing was precooked and sitting out, we ordered the bacalao fritters, clams and chorizo for apps and each was outstanding and ample enough to share family style. Our entrees ranged from octopus to the mixed plate of chicken, pork and beef ribs, and garlic shrimp with salad (pieces together from the app and salad section of the menu). The octopus was cooked tender inside and crispy on the ends with generous amounts of peppers, onions and potatoes. The mixed grill was definitely a must as every protein was grilled to perfection, none of it dry or overcooked. Meat was salted perfectly and you can taste the flame broil in the food. If you are deciding between the half and full, just to for the full order, it’s the best bang for the buck.
Really hoping Galito’s does well because it’s such a great place to eat!

I ordered 2 half trays one pork ribs one chicken and 2 orders of fries and rice , I spent less then 40$ including a 2 liter it fed 4 people 2 adults 2 kids , had one full tray left over for later or lunch tommorow. The food was also really good and I’ve had Portuguese food from a couple places it is totally worth every penny. You won’t be disappointed
