Family owned for over 20 years. Hands down best Thai food in Albuquerque. Authentic, delicious and big portions. Highly recommend the pad see ew noodles, pineapple curry, and garlic shrimp. Classic pad thai and papaya salad are always great options. No wrong options with this menu.

Someone said their medium is spicy and that is absolutely not true if you actually like Thai food and some spice. Easily remedied with a spice rack, and I found the food to be fantastic and the service to be kind.

The restaurant was nice and clean and calm. Not dirty.

However, we arrived before their crowd started coming in and were told it would be 25 to 30 minutes. We ordered to go due to needing to drive home. We ended up waiting for more like an hour with no communication from staff. We ended up asking for a refund and went somewhere else. We were pretty disappointed because we were really looking forward to some food that we dont have great access to in our own town. Most likely won’t try here again.

Great if you like spicy homemade food.

Owner seems to be fairly knowledgeable of what is and isn’t gluten free (the staff not so much).
She explained how they can use gluten free soy sauce to make most dishes.
**GLUTEN NOTE: She didn’t seem to know that the wide rice noodles that they use in the drunken noodles are never actually gluten free. We ordered that to-go so I didn’t notice until much later.

**SPICE TIP: The food is EXTREMELY SPICY, even when you order it mild/no-spice, as we did. If you are sensitive to cumin, chili powder, cayenne, etc you might want to stick to the fried rice and egg rolls. I can vouch the pineapple and peanut butter curry’s we got were both SUPER spicy, and also the drunken noodles which was milder but still had spice.
My husband who loves spicy food couldn’t handle the spice of the food we ordered as mild.

It was completely empty at around lunchtime to 3pm, so definitely worth checking out if you are craving spicy Thai.

This is a really good Thai restaurant in Albuquerque. They opened at 4 PM and there were already people waiting to be inside. They have a huge selection of Thai food and I feel we tried it all. You place your order at the counter and then they bring it out to you. We ordered the egg rolls and fried tofu which were great. We also ordered the Pas Thai noodles, ground chicken, eggplant, panang curry, duck and so much more. Everything was tasty. The service was great and the staff was friendly and helpful. The layout of the restaurant is pretty simple and they have plenty of tables throughout.

I’ve tried this place about 4 or 5 times. I keep hoping the lack of excellence is a fluke. But this last visit has convinced me that I will NEVER visit again. Called in the order, wasn’t done when we done when we ordered so we ordered a drink to wait, wait an hour and it still wasn’t done. Did the wait staff notice? No. I finally went up and asked about our food, they never even started it. I will never enter this establishment again. I’ve waited numerous times, always waited at least an hour for me food, hoping it was a fluke. Tonight was the last straw. I’m done and do not recommend this place EVER!!!

Orchid Thai is a counter-serve Thai restaurant off Central. There’s ample parking in the back that’s off the main road, which is nice.

Inside, seating is at tables with chairs instead of booths, so wheelchair users will have no issues here.

Orchid Thai serves a variety of alcoholic drinks along with the standard sodas and teas. The entree menu is large, and they had an item I’ve not seen in my years of Thai dining: a Green Tea Curry. Unfortunately I’m not a fan of green tea flavors, so I skipped this dish.

I got the Pud Thai (usually spelled “pad”), which consisted of a protein choice, rice noodles, egg, bean sprouts, peanut sauce, crushed peanuts, broccoli, steamed squash strips, and a lime garnish. I ordered the dish medium, but they forgot the spice and it came mild without a hint of added heat.

While the portion sizes were quite large, the food itself was mostly just fine. I’d describe it as “doing the job” since I was hungry, but I wouldn’t crave what they served. There are other Thai places around that are much better and are less expensive. It seems the focus here is on quantity over quality.

This has been my family’s favorite Thai place since our good foodie friends brought us here after our honeymoon. The hot and sour soup is divine. Drunken noodles come drowning in savory sauce. We can’t afford to become regulars here, but for special occasions it’s nice to dine there. They did a beautiful remodel on the place, creating a relaxing and casual atmosphere. Sweet staff and owner. Service is family oriented. They always bring our daughter a cute kid plate. My kiddo got stickers today 🙂

Orchid Thai has been a favorite of mine for the last 14 years. Service is consistently friendly and welcoming and the menu is varied, interesting, and appealing to vegetarians and omnivores alike. While I miss the old decor and funky atmosphere, this place is still my go-to for excellent Thai cuisine.
