Reviews
Anyways, long winded review because I’m excited that this place exists and is in the neighborhood. Type of restaurant that makes you want to be a local.
Oh… and all day happy hour at the bar, every day? Yup. Sign me up.
Keep up the great work, Trela.
My top favorites: happy hour lamb patty sliders (this shocked me), pork and chicken kebabs, the traditional greek salad, the orzo salad, and one of the most beautiful / delicious dishes I’ve had in portland, the Kebab me Pligouri.
The Kebab me Pligouri, as described on the menu: a twelve-inch skewer beef tenderloin with charred bell peppers and onions, served over bulgur wheat and drizzled with Greek yogurt aioli. Presentation was BEAUTIFUL.
Our server from last night (I’m so sorry, can’t remember her name) was wonderful. She has glasses and wore her dark honey hair in a pony tail. Full lips, white skin, wore all black.
One last mention, this place is SO reasonably priced. Very refreshing.
I didn’t find anything on the dessert menu that I was interested in trying, but if you like baklava, I’m sure it’s also delicious.
Fantastic! I’d been wanting to try this place and I’m glad that I did! The flavors are well done and the variety is great for a menu that isn’t too big.
If you like pita then you HAVE to try theirs! It’s warm and aromatic and I can’t wait to try a gyro wrapped up in that tastiness.
Service:
Their staff is great. I sat at the bar, but I also saw how the staff were with other patrons and everyone was tended to.
Atmosphere:
This place has an inviting family feel, while also feeling upscale and featuring updated decor. It was clean and enjoyable.
The decor and lighting were warm and inviting—comfortable without feeling stuffy—and our host was genuinely attentive, offering thoughtful recommendations that all turned out to be spot-on.
We started with a selection of dips paired with delicious house-made pita bread (lots of garlic… yum!), followed by the orzo with myzithra cheese. For mains, I ordered the lamb shank, which was cooked perfectly and served on polenta; my wife had the souvlaki and a salad, both excellent. My mom thoroughly enjoyed the moussaka, and my wife’s mom was thrilled with the Garides Hilopita (prawns in a tomato-ouzo sauce).
We shared a couple of desserts and were pleasantly surprised when the meal was finished with a complimentary Greek dessert wine—a thoughtful touch.
Of my recent dining outings, this was easily one of the most enjoyable. We genuinely loved 100% of the dishes, which doesn’t happen often. Currently, they offer happy hour all day if you sit in the bar area. We’ll definitely be frequenting Trela again.
