We are a bar & grill with limited seating. We do not take reservations. Bar is open at 4pm Thurs & Fri with the kitchen serving food at 5pm. We open at 11 am on Sat & Sun with pizza available after 4pm. Our kitchen typically serves food until 9pm on Fri & Sat and closes at 8pm on Thursday and Sunday.

Dinner-for-two on a Sunday evening, visiting the area for a 2-night getaway. We angle parked across from the restaurant; there’s also a small parking lot on the property. Most patrons were there to socialize & watch football, with a few carryouts processed during our meal.
The service staff were very friendly & welcoming & attentive, and our meals were prepped & delivered to our booth in a reasonable amount of time. Both of our choices were tasty with high quality ingredients (Fried Chicken Sandwich with kettle chips, Patty Melt with French fries), and the portions were generous. The atmosphere was laid back & comfortable, and we would return to Old School if we came back to the area.

The Old School Saloon was one of the best stops we had on the weekend.
At the Council Hill Station, I asked a local where the best food in the area was, and he quickly touted The Old School Saloon. Since it wasn’t too far from where we were so we took the drive. It was worth it.
The Old School Saloon is known for their burgers, but also has a full menu.
The men in our group sprang for burgers, and every one of them left satisfied and questioning how the burgers were made. Trying to find out seasoning what the meat was and how they were cooked.
The interior is clean and unique. Original features with upgrades.
This establishment is handicapped accessible.

This was a great spot to grab lunch after a rare chance to hit the highest point of Illinois as Charles Mound. Not too busy at lunchtime on a Saturday but good service, good food, and a nice cool retreat for food after walking outside in the summer heat nearby. I highly recommend the cheese curds.

Check out the old school house conversion! Great atmosphere, wonderful pub food. We were too hungry to think about pictures until the end, but the missing mushroom Swiss burger was delicious, and the handmade chips you can see. Wings with garlic parmesan sauce and deep-fried ravioli with marinara sauce were awesome!! Want to go back and check out the Friday fish fry, which they said have people lined up before they open!! Check it out when you are in the area!!

This stop was definitely one of our favorites! My husband and I have been on the road working in different states nonstop since March and won’t be home until the first week in June. I randomly stumbled upon this place while working in the Apple Canyon/Galena Territory area and suggested we go there for dinner after reading a few reviews. Being from West TN, we are just “down home country folk”. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt like family and it reminded us of home. Everyone knew everyone. Our service was great, staff was so friendly, and our food (cheese curds, taco pizza, fish&shrimp combo) was delicious. We didn’t get drinks but I’m sure they would’ve been great too! Love the atmosphere and pride in the USA of this place. We will be eating here again before we leave the area and making this a stop on our yearly work trips here for years to come.

We tried the Mini Tacos (so good), the cheese curds (every bite was a hit), and both the regular and gluten-free Thin-Crust pizzas, absolutely out of this world. The flavors, the combinations, everything was a total delight.
Without a doubt, you’re now at the top of my favorite pizza list. Big shoutout to the Old School Saloon. If you ever get the chance to visit, do yourself a favor and go!

Visited here on a Sunday. The service was fantastic. Both servers were attentive and friendly. I had a burger and fries. The food came out fast and was delicious. The pizza was recommended but they don’t serve that until 4:00. I highly recommend this place.
