We are traveling with a friend that loves tiki. So we were happy we were able to get in. He absolutely loved the place. Certain drinks trigger actions to happen so it is nice the guest are included.
There is a lot to look at. It is fairly dark in the room and it is pretty small. The waitress inside are very attentive. I loved that they had N/A drinks.

Great flatbread pizza and the drink menu is really fun. Atmosphere is amazing. Expect premium prices, but you will definitely get a premium experience!

I got the Spikey Pineapple! It was so good! And the Thai Chicken flatbread hit the spot!

If you are at Disney, make sure you find this unique little spot. Also, get your name on the list early because wait times can be crazy during peak days!

We have been going for years!! We love this place so much!! I’m surprised I haven’t done a review actually ‍♀️. So let me tell you about this place… If you love tiki bars, get ready to enjoy it a whole new way! The whole bar is interactive so when people order certain drinks the cast members act out the part in very comical ways wow the bar storms, or the tiki gods chant and lights flicker. All the drinks are very creatively named and taste amazing. Some of them you can keep the cup as a souvenir! They have fruity drinks to stronger drinks so there’s a cocktail for everyone! Even if you don’t drink alcohol they have mocktails as well. They do have a full bar so you can order anything you want and if you’re hungry check out the tapas they have. They don’t serve huge meals but they do have all types of little appetizers that are very delicious. My favorite are the pork tacos which honestly could be a meal lol. Check out the videos and photos! You’ll definitely get a view into this wild tiki bar! Disney always knows how to go to the next level!

Expectations were high so it was a bit disappointing. The one in Disneyland is much better. This location seemed like they just set it up in a spare broom closet and make you wait 3 hours for a seat. Fyi. You might have to sit with strangers. We decided to sit outside with no wait. The drinks were very small and all seemed to have a passion fruit base, so they all tasted the same. Not so good. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The hotel and Polynesian theme was fun. Miss the Safari Swizzle.

These days, we skip the parks and resort-hop instead. There are so many incredible restaurants and bars that still deliver the full Disney experience, and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a perfect example of Disney magic beyond the parks.

Every drink comes with a theatrical presentation , and somehow all the guests know exactly how to participate. It makes for such a fun, shared experience. I tried my luck with the Polynesian Pearl and pulled the Black Pearl ⚓️ (supposedly a 1-in-100 chance!). Even though a couple of others hit it too, I’m still calling it a win

If you love immersive bars and themed experiences, this one’s a must. Have you tried Trader Sam’s? or do you prefer the parks over resort hopping?

A highlight of our Disney adventure!

My wife and I snuck away mid-trip and stumbled straight into the enchanted grotto of Trader Sam’s. The moment we crossed the threshold, it felt like we had sailed off to some hidden island where volcano gods nap and rum flows freely.

The drinks? Strong enough to wake a tiki idol, yet smooth enough to keep you happily shipwrecked in your seat. The atmosphere was pure escapism: every thunderclap, chant, and surprise making us feel like part of the show. And the crew running the place? Service smoother than aged rum over ice.

We walked out grinning with a couple of souvenir mugs, little treasures from our own tiki voyage that now guard our bar at home.

If there was one storm cloud, it was the reservation ritual. Walk-up only is fine, but showing up hours early, getting a vague return time, and staying “on call” made it tricky to chart the night.

Still, once inside, it was nothing but tiki bliss—an adventure worth every bit of the effort. We’d happily set sail for Trader Sam’s again in a heartbeat.

As a Disney Local and AP holder and lover of Tiki. Trader Sam’s is a must due experience. The photos I added are from 3 different trips. The zombie is a must, but be careful you will feel like a zombie after. The Krakatoa (red mug) is amazing and comes with a light up ice cube. Yesterday on a solo trip I got the Nautili’s normally a 2 person drink but can get solo. Another amazing and tasty drink, but be carful you might sink your battle ship if you drink to fast.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto — Come for One Drink, Leave With a Life Decision ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I walked into Trader Sam’s fully intending to have a normal, responsible beverage.
I walked out having proposed to a person I barely knew and emotionally bonded with a tiki mug.

Here’s how it escalated:
• Zombie ‍♂️ – Strong enough to erase my inner monologue
• Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room ️ – Ordered once, triggered thunder, chanting, flashing lights, and what I assume was a minor curse
• Bartenders acting like chaos coordinators instead of humans
• The room erupting every 90 seconds like it’s legally obligated to be unhinged

Every drink sets off a chain reaction—sirens, drums, strangers yelling things at you in unison. At some point the energy hit a level where proposing felt… reasonable. Logical, even. The crowd supported it. That’s basically a wedding.

Was I in love? Maybe.
Was the rum driving? Absolutely.
Was Trader Sam’s responsible? 100%.

What to know before you go:
• This is not a bar. This is an experience with a cover charge
• Do not sit near the bartenders unless you’re ready for public attention
• Pre-game your vows. Just in case

I’d come back in a heartbeat. Great drinks, elite chaos, unforgettable memories, and one ex-fiancé who still has my pen.

Unexpected ending:
I don’t remember how we left.
But I do remember someone applauding while a volcano went off.

5 stars. No notes.

I recently seen this place trending on tiktok. A friend and I decided to see if we could get in while we were exploring the polynesian. Luckily we were able to get in 30 minutes after they opened, however we were not told that we would be sat with strangers. The drink was good and strong! But I’m missing why this is such a “cool” place. We were going to order food, but our table was small and sharing it with strangers who had a baby in their lap seemed very awkward. I would say if you are unable to attend this experience you are not missing much.
