Sometimes you just want to give that hidden gym, serving food you like (breakfast for me) and I think we did just that.

My kids were thrifting and I met them for lunch. Calico’s had both lunch and breakfast items, that suited my crew well.

Service is happy and efficient.and we were greeted promptly by Hollin, who went on to make several recommendations, since we were first timers. She was just a really outwardly happy person, which is always good to see, because of the back of the house is happy too, well, happy people make good good. You can quote me on that.

The restaurant is extremely clean and there is plenty of room to dine in.

But you want to hear about the food.

Scrambled Eggs on your face – their biggest seller, and for good reason,
Bam Bam – my personal favorite, bacon, egg, rolled in a pancake covered with maple syrup. GET THIS.
Fireproof – my son really enjoyed this.
Brisket Bowl – another solid choice for our crew.

We really did not find anything bad, but we did have a few choices we ranked at the top. For me it was the Bam Bam, my son, The Fireproof, and my daughter lived her brisket bowl.

Good find for breakfast or lunch.

Really cute store, we got a few things and we’ll include details below but overall super good ingredients, quick service, and friendly staff. The meat is well seasoned and the menu includes a variety of options for different flavor profiles. They also have their own salsa bar and they make their own tortillas on site. We got the Purple Tiger drink and it was 10/10. We’ll definitely be back to try more.

Area 51 and Texas Hold’em: Very simple but well seasoned, pairs well with their spicy and tomatillo salsas. You can tell the tortillas are fresh, makes a huge difference.

Bam Bam: Star of the show! My husbands favourite out of everything. Perfect blend of breakfast and lunch. The bacon is the perfect amount of crispy and the ratio of bacon to egg to pancake is truly outstanding.

Calico Hash: The potato was crunchy kind of like potato straws which I didn’t expect but it definitely grew on me. The flavors are so good and once I added salsa and mixed everything up it perfectly blended together.

Overall I think Calico Cactus is a great place to grab some breakfast or lunch (or both). Everything has great flavor and the prices are pretty good considering the amount of filling you get. The bowl especially was a decent size for only $10.75. We’ll be back to try their coffees and extended drink menu.

Atmosphere was great and food was delicious. Salsa bar is a nice addition and food came out fast. Scrambled egg on the face taco, tumbleweed tots, and protein bowl were all delicious. Bee’s Knees latte was tasty too and came with edible bee treat. Tortillas are made in house and you can taste the freshness. Looking forward to going back and trying more.

We’re Texans first off and sort of skeptical. We were pleasantly surprised. All very very good! Including being warmly welcomed by a friendly helpful staff. Fresh flowers on tables. Orange juice fresh is squeezed. Caffe con leche and maple syrup latte were both a 10 out of 10! Tacos were very innovative, fresh and tasty. Now, are the tortillas as great as our favorite (Original Ninfa’s on Navigation St.) in Houston, Texas? No, but they were warm, soft and very very acceptable. Very clean inside. You can tell someone really cares about this business. Thank you!

Where to even begin!!! This is a HIDDEN GEM in STA. This was our first time and we had so many questions about the menu. Everyone working was SO nice answering all of our questions and even making substitutions because we were vegetarian!! Personal suggestion…get the BAM BAM sub potatoes for the bacon…and just thank me later! Everything we ate was phenomenal and don’t get me started on how amazing the coffee was! The Bees Knees with oat milk! I could drink this every single day!!! This was a special treat and a place we will be visiting anytime we are in St. Augustine! Run to eat at Calico Cactus, you will not regret it!!

My daughter and I ordered plain Jane burritos. I requested mine with bacon on the side, and extra cheese. Food was delivered with a side bowl that said “bacon on side” written on the lid, and inside was the extra cheese and 1 slice of bacon. I made the incorrect assumption that that was all the bacon I got with my burrito, until I bit into it and encountered the rest of it. Not sure why I would get a single slice of bacon on the side instead of all of it.

My daughter did not enjoy her burrito. She said the eggs were very wet, and when she bit into it the bacon was stringy and basically made the eggs fall out of the burrito when she had to fight to bite through it.

Also not sure if the potatoes inside the burritos were supposed to be fried hard, but for us that was completely the wrong texture and taste. Softer hash brown potatoes would have gone much better.

The tot bites were pretty delicious. The start was also very very nice.

A classic pairing in the making? I wasn’t quite sure how well coffee and tacos were going to go together but I was pleasantly surprised on my recent visit to Calico Cactus

I attended Coffee with a Commissioner put- an event out in by our City Government this week and I am so glad I got to try out the food and drinks here.

I had the Bees Knees which was an equal blend of honey and vanilla latte topped with cinnamon which was delicious. The thing that blew me away was the Gravy Crocket taco though – the mix of Bacon, potatoes, green chili spicy chorizo gravy was the perfect start to my day. The owners also brought over some fresh made chips and queso along with some delicious salsas as well. Give this not so classic combo a try and you will definitely be back for more.

This is our second visit here and we have tried the UFO, Fireproof and fire from ice tacos. UFO is a breakfast taco and the other two are for lunch. Our first visit I honestly was hesitant because who the heck thinks of coffee with tacos?! However, I was blown away by the flavor of the queso and the tacos were just as good. I honestly can’t believe any one would say they were bland because I tried adding some of the salsa and I felt like I took away from the amazing flavor. I think the owners have done an amazing job at blending the two for a truly original idea. Such a hidden gem We will continue to come back.

Oh my god we spotted this place while heading to the capybara cafe down the road and we agreed that tacos plus coffee is a win. Wow I am so glad we came here this place was amazing! The tacos were $4-$5 a piece but they were so full. My gf got the bees knees and she said it was one of the best coffees she has ever had. They make the tortillas in house right up front. The queso was so so so good. Everything was super delicious and I can’t wait to try it again!

Came back to the best breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in St Augustine!

Wish I was lying when I said I traveled all the way from San Diego, CA just to get my favorite taco of all the time… the ‘squawk on the street’! I tried two of Miranda’s tasty creations first was the Miranda breakfast taco and second was the best lavender latte I have ever consumed, the ‘Purple moon’ Miranda’s way which featured some oat milk and splash of syrup. Sheeba came over to our table and made sure we had anything we could’ve wanted (even to chat about our favorite things in SD)!
The vibe is always so uplifting and you can always feel that uplifting welcome no matter the time you walk in the door ☺️
