I love Joy of Tokyo to begin with. However, this one is exceptional. I came in and communicated that I wasn’t able to read the menu (I just had to move down the counter a little bit in order to see better and said this to make me walking away a bit less awkward). The kind guy at the front voluntarily started explaining the menu and reading each item very professionally, respectfully, and patiently. I was blown away by the kind gesture, which is the essence things that make dining anywhere a stellar experience.

Placed an order with Uber Eats. Order consisted of spring rolls, fried calamari, chicken dumplings and a hibachi entree. What I got was spring rolls, hibachi and what I can best describe as chicken nuggets. This seems to be common with restaurants filling UE orders. It’s fraud! Never again Joy of Tokyo!

Well, have went to order from there and never had the. Finally i ordered, my expectations high, my thoughts of mall hibachi having my anticipation full blown!! Opened the box of the hibachi
Shrimp chicken and mushrooms with extra ginger sauce on the side and it looked amazing!!!!
Opened my dumplings, dried out wontons that were trying to be crispy but didn’t make it, or steamed ones that were old and or cooked too long.
The hibachi although in appearance looked good was actually the blandest thing I’ve ever eaten, I’m a food service director and been cooking for 40 years and this is the blandest thing I’ve ever eaten, i currently work in senior care and my food for them has more flavor.
And the “fried rice” well, its as iff all this was sitting on a steam table drying out, the chicken was almost saw dust and i dont know what that ginger sauce was but the only hint of ginger is in the name, just a brown congealed tasteless something. Waited all this time for a colossal disappointment. The only thing and i mean only thing remotely good was the shrimp, firm, good tasting shrimp. Food that looked and sounded good was actually bland tasteless fake hibachi. $40 for an entree and appetizer should get one a pretty good meal.
Im extremely disappointed.

I went to school in Greenville and came to Joy of Tokyo often. I stop by now any time I get to visit. The food is delicious and extremely affordable. Steak, scallops, chicken…can’t go wrong!!!

I was so disappointed. I had delivery so I expected somewhat cooler but mine was totally cold . I couldn’t eat the crab rangoons.

They want a tip to do nothing. They won’t even bring food out to the table, but you know, I understand- times are hard-so I left a decent tip anyway, and then when I asked for a “white sauce” to go with a chicken bowl, the girls (both- while one was sitting on the others lap) said “that’ll be 50 cent. No thanks, that 50 cent cost you a customer.
