Reservation was not made and could have been due to the 2026 fire horse Chinese New Year when we visited; there were seas of heads of patrons patiently waiting in the lounge in the limited space waiting area.
Wait time was not horrible from 5:45 pm-6:20pm. It is expected during Chinese New Year. We got in quickly considering guests kept coming in the doorway wanting to be served and eagerly looking forward to Gary’s fine dining dishes.
The restaurant’s reputation and vibes echoed with joy-laughter-happiness throughout the restaurant, let me say, this is the place.
While waiting in the guest’s area to get a table, self-served fortunate cookies are available, pick your fortune while waiting for guest’s names to be called or get some cookies as guests exited the restaurant.
Asian vibes elevated once we walked past the hostess front desk, all tables were taken and occupied. The ambiance lighting was warm and welcoming. We got a booth and were happy where we were seated, it was perfect. Servers checked on our drink selections/quickly delivered.
Attentive/warm-welcoming service throughout, they didn’t miss the mark.
Spicy wonton soup (an entrée large bowl, my choice to go big). You can go with a smaller bowl of your choice, let them know when ordering.
Spicy wonton broth was too sweet, too syrupy flavors, too vinegary for me but it had a very interesting flavor to it.
There needs to be a balance adjustment of flavors to not tastes like candy soup. A rich, dark broth with a slight tangy light-sweet vinegar with a dash of sesame oil in the broth; meat fillings (not meat with shrimp fillers; 12-14 wontons. A very generous portion. I couldn’t eat-drink much of it, took the other half home, leftovers for another day.
Cream cheese wonton with an orangey slight sweet sauce hit the nail, every bit was so amazingly good!
Sesame deep fried chicken-steamed white rice-walnut shrimp were simply out of this world. Potstickers were equally delicious.
Every dish was a generous portion in size. Average prices for what you get in an upscale, yet casual restaurant.
With a focus on high-quality, fresh, and nutritious ingredients.
Authentic, genuine Asian dishes. The attendance of guests tells a story, this is where you want to be for amazing high level Asian dishes, wok flavors and all.
2026 Fire Horse Chinese New Year started 2/17, ending 3/3. Gary’s Asian Bistro is just getting started, come celebrate, make a reservation if deemed needed based on the number of guests in your party.
Picking up orders, a separate small desk station to your right, when you walk in.
A fantastic way to ring in the spring festivities of Chinese New Year. Don’t forget to get a fortune cookie on your way out.
Dining should be a delightful and beautiful experience. This restaurant is a benchmark for casual and fine dining Asian flair.
***** During Chinese New Year, I would highly recommend that your group make a reservation in hopes to shorten the wait a bit. Guests with and without reservation did not mind the wait time, when it comes to authentic Asian food, it’s worthy.
We don’t mind a :40 minute drive and our friends/business associates also don’t mind the long drive from American Fork/Lehi/Highland to reach this bistro experience.
We were impressed by how flavorful our dishes were, the attentiveness & friendliness of the waiter & the ambiance.
Gary, the owner prides himself in assuring all aspects of the dining experience are impeccably presented.
If ur taste buds are calling for Chinese food, look no further than Gary’s !
The food? Incredible! Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The General Tso’s Chicken was crispy with just the right amount of spice, and the Lo Mein was packed with flavor. Don’t skip the dumplings—they are a must-try!
What sets Gary’s apart is the authenticity and quality of the food, combined with a level of service that truly makes you feel like a valued guest. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of their menu.
If you’re craving Chinese food, Gary’s is the place to go. Five stars all the way!

PROS
-Our waitress was very kind and friendly
-Atmosphere was nice with good interior design choices
CONS
-I would’ve liked the food to be more authentic Chinese. It is high end Americanized Chinese food.
-I am someone who likes salt however the soup and main dish was over salted. When I told the owner Gary, he said to tell the waitress that I prefer less salty, as if this was my personal preference. I would have preferred if Gary took the feedback to the kitchen and tried the food himself to see if it was overly salted.
-The sweet-and-sour pork was over, battered, making it less crispy then it could be
