Lefty’s was a solid find in the Rosemary District, which definitely feels like it’s turning into a hot spot. We went early, but the bar filled up quickly—not surprising given the happy hour options.

Happy hour had a good mix of items, and the shellfish were fresh and well handled. Oysters were plentiful, and there were a couple of genuinely pretty cocktails that didn’t feel gimmicky. We had the Virginia Select oysters on Happy Hour) and the Blue Points. The Virginia Selects were bigger, but the Blue Points were more briny. The Steamed Mussels and Drunken Clams were a good Happy Hour portion and delicious. The full menu is extensive, with enough variety that we’ll be back to try more than just happy hour.

The space itself is inviting, and on a warmer day, the covered patio would be a great place to sit. Service was smooth and efficient, even as the bar got busy.

Worth noting: there’s a small discount for paying cash; otherwise, there’s about a 3% credit card swipe fee. Not a dealbreaker, just good to know going in.

Overall, a strong addition to the neighborhood—easy to enjoy casually, but with enough on the menu to keep you coming back.

Great location and no problems getting a table. Everything we ate was fresh and excellent. Recommend the hush puppies (crisp exterior and soft interior) served with a honey butter, steamed clams, conch soup, ceasar salad, scallops and burger. NO, I didnt consume ALL of this but let’s just say everyone at my table enjoyed their meal. Just as good as Walt’s without the “hype”. Try it…you will enjoy!

I hate leaving this review because the Watershed Group (ownership) is known for high quality dining and a mainstay in Sarasota. I wanted to email the restaurant directly, but there is no contact email on the Watershed Group website, so this is left as a public review. Hopefully management will take note.

Everything I ordered today was inedible. I initially ordered the steamed mussels, but they were so overcooked they were the size and texture of pencil erasers. They were removed from our bill.

Not confident, in the cook’s capabilities to prepare mussels, I asked for a cup of the seafood chowder. The server brought a bowl to make up for the mussels. However, the chowder tasted like salt and thyme. You couldn’t detect any seafood and if there was it was overpowered by the heavy handed salt and herbs.

Meanwhile, the servers were way too busy chit chatting and on their phones to notice our empty cocktails and the dissatisfaction with my meal.

We started out with a great bartender and then he left an another server took over. It was primarily the food for me. The ambiance is really cool and the menu reads well.

The couple at the end of the bar just down from us were also disappointed with their experience (so it’s not just me) and when we were walking to our car, said they would not be returning.

As a person who did time in the service industry, I always try to be mindful my time doing those jobs, because it’s not easy work. All I can think here is the tremendous opportunity that’s missed because of bad cooking and lackluster service.

We had an amazing experience at Lefty’s Oyster House & Raw Bar! The oysters were incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the shrimp dish was perfectly seasoned. The espresso martinis were one of the best we’ve ever had — smooth, rich, and beautifully presented.

The atmosphere on the patio was relaxed and cozy, with great music and a friendly vibe. Our server Batty was attentive and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Sarasota — we’ll definitely be back!

We had such an amazing experience at Lefty’s Oyster and seafood bar ! The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish. Our drinks were good , The rice and red beans were full of flavor, the frog legs were perfectly cooked, the alligator bites were crispy and tasty, and the fish and chips were fresh and seasoned just right.

The service was incredible Dylan was our server he was great — everyone was so attentive and welcoming — and the atmosphere made the whole experience even better. You can tell they really care about their food and their customers.

I like the place, I ate very well during aperitif time, the clams were good and very delicate, but I preferred the shrimp, I added a little spicy and they were insane, but ask immediately for more bread because the sauce was dizzying. Finally we tried the oysters. For drinks I recommend the mai tai, good! Happy with this happy hour.

We enjoyed our dinner here! Since it was our first time we wanted to try a little bit of everything. We got some raw oysters from ME (they had 4 varieties to choose from) and the Pearls & Parm oysters. Both were great!! The seafood chowder was also decent with lots of meat in it! The fish and chips were great, with the batter being light and balanced (tartar sauce was also good, and I don’t normally like it that much, I couldn’t stop eating it), the fish tacos were good and the grouper platter was average. Both were ordered blackened and we all agreed that there could have been more seasoning to give some really great flavor. Pics are after we all got a little excited and started eating. The key lime and snickers pies were so yummy! The decor in the restaurant is so fun, and I was constantly entertained looking around. Service was great and our server was friendly and attentive. We will be back and would love to come for HH.
