If Taylor Swift would ever do a pescatarian era, this restaurant would be it. Mariscos El Najar in Collinsville. This spot doesn’t mess around, it’s seafood or nothing, and my ocean loving heart was thrilled. I ordered the seafood tower, which had every species in the sea, clams, octopus, scallops, shrimp, you name it. It even came with a side of entertainment when the whole thing collapsed in. Sad but inevitable. If you love seafood, this is a must. #stlouispescatarianapproved

I had a great experience for the first time here. Service was attentive and they helped explain some of the menu items I hadn’t seen before. They first brought out a small platter with some kind of seafood soup and hot sauce, and limes. Not the traditional salsa I would have anticipated at a Mexican restaurant, that was delicious and unique for me. I started with a michelada that had some seafood on top which was really good. Then I had the special oysters that had fresh pico de gallo on top with shrimp and a couple pieces of octopus. Everything was flavorful and all of the seafood was fresh. I’m definitely impressed, and it’s work paying a few extra bucks for something this unique that I’ve literally never had anywhere else in St Louis.

I order cocktails mix and first looks good until when I start eating, the oysters was bad and I talked to the waitress and she just look at me and then she did nothing . And I still pay for the whole meal. And they put too much a tuna . The taste is bad.

The place is small. We thought we was at the wrong spot after you come in. The kitchen is a front of the bar. The lady who served us ( only one for lo the tables there ) was nice. The food wasn’t what I expected since it’s pricey. I have been is a lot seafood places and wasn’t what I thought would be. I probably won’t come back.

The drinks I got a mango strawberry margarita that was good. Me my sis nd mom got the tamarindo drink. Wasn’t tamarindo we are Cuban and we now what tamarindo taste like. The have shops and salsa as soon you sit down. The portion size aren’t big to share one place since everything is pricey. We got the shrimp rancho and garlic. Taste really good. No enough shrimp like was worth it. You you wanna grab a good margarita it’s okay other than that I personally didn’t like it that much. My sis like it.

Went here with my partner and daughter. Place was packed so I figured it would be good, for starters they give you some sort of seafood tomatoe soup for free with crackers which was nice, I got the fried snapper with garlic sauce, and it came with rice and beans and salad, it was a little pricey but the food was good quality.
I would check it out if I was in the area for good seafood.

Good customer service but pricey. I eat at alot of seafood places. I probably won’t come back.

Likes: customer service, cleanliness, and Pina colada was great.

Neutral: complimentary app bag of tostadas with spicy onion water and a tomato soup accompanied with a headed prawn….

Dislikes: portion sizes, no sides for 35.00 just a little amount of seafood. By little I mean one crab claw which one leg was broken off, less than ten shrimp, and 4 mussels. If not for my drink I would have left hungry. First initial taste was salty, They don’t have water in a glass so she charged me for a water bottle I didn’t even touch.( I took after my bill came Bc I was charged for it)Charged me for using my debit card. And the worse the VERY WORSE PART OF ALL! MY SHRIMP WAS OVER COOKED!!!! It was a struggle getting them out of the shell ‍♀️

WOW,
Been traveling since Colorado and finally found great Mariscos/ (Mexican seafood)!!
We are used to a lot of Mexican food in Denver, really been missing it. Stopped in (Arizona, & New Mexico were good) Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, MO, Illinois, …
finally found some great comfort food, music & environment!!

Oh, yes, great service also, & the best Pinà Colada I’ve ever had!!

Looks like they are putting in a new patio out front.

Place was really busy but, not “over-run”

Mariscos El Najar rocks!

Extremely Disappointed – Poor Quality, Overpriced, and Bad Service

I rarely write reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was so disappointing that I feel others should know.

The shrimp I ordered was raw, which is unacceptable and unsafe to serve. On top of that, the food was extremely overpriced for the quality we received. Even basic items like tostadas and tortillas were charged extra, which felt ridiculous given the cost of the meal.

The service was just as bad as the food. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, and the restaurant itself had an unpleasant smell the entire time we were there.

Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food, good service, or a clean environment.

This is unacceptable. My daughter was served raw chicken nuggets. I had to wait 10 minutes to talk to a waiter (not even ours, he was too busy choosing music on the TV). When I told the waiter, all he said was “Oh”. No apology, nothing. He comes back a few minutes later and then asked if we would like a replacement I said no. I asked to speak to the person in “charge”, turns out it was our “waiter”, I’m guessing the owner. I had to tell him what happened, he said “I know, I was told it was kitchen error and we’re making a new ones”. I told him again, I don’t want any.

Services is HORRIBLE! No one followed up with us, except one time. After our food was served. I had to ask for extra plates, napkins etc. I ordered the molcajete, it was a 4/10.

What made me even more upset was the I didn’t even get the check, I had to go up to the register to ask for the check. (They bring the check to the table). Turns out I was going to be charged for the raw nuggets, after I asked her why I’m being charged for the nuggets the lady made a face, while smacking her gum and removed them.

We will NEVER be back. I’ll be going to Mariscos Mi Tierra or anywhere else.

The food was absolutely amazing. The portions are very large and you can easily share between two people.
