Visited Rockville and stopped by Pollo Campero , the food was amazing! The fried chicken is a must-try: crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Dylan greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Excellent food and great hospitality. Highly recommend!

Thyme
It’s not the most prevalent spice in Latin cuisine. In fact, it’s rare that you would even taste it. But thyme has been well incorporated into both the fried, and roasted chicken served at Pollos Camperos.
I’ve never heard of pollos camperos, until today. And since it was right next door to my hotel, I decided I would stop in and give it a try. I ordered 4 pieces of chicken. Two fried and two baked. And my two sides were coleslaw and beans.
I also ordered two empanadas, which only come in chicken flavor.
Both the roasted and fried chicken were delicious! But I think the roasted chicken was better than the fried. But not by much. Both were moist, juicy, and delicious. My personal opinion is that the thyme flavor just goes better with roasted chicken then it does with fried.
The beans were very basic. Not a lot of flavoring.
If they had added celery seed to the coleslaw, it would have tasted exactly like KFC.
The role was just basic. I thought it was going to be Hawaiian bread, but ……..
And the empanadas were delicious! Maybe not the best i’ve ever had. But they were excellent!
Overall this meal was delicious. While being completely different than anything i’ve ever had before. Definitely worth a try. I would suggest that you don’t go in expecting typical fried or roasted chicken.

The roasted chicken is so delicious! It is very flavorful and juicy. I also had the fried yuca and sweet plantains that were very good, fresh, and hot. My hubby had the spicy chicken sandwich and an empanada. He said that both were delicious as well. Everyone that was working was very kind. The restaurant is very clean and pleasant. We will definitely return. This is a hidden gem. (I should have taken pictures, but i was enjoying the food too much.)The roasted chicken is so delicious! It is very flavorful and juicy. Pollo Campero has excellent fried and grilled chicken!!! The fried bird is very flavorful and the perfect coating of crunchy goodness. One of the best fried chicken places actually!! Fries were good, though they stuck together a bit too much (large batch made). Empanadas are great too. Their grilled chicken is tender and flavorful. This location the dining room is small, they remove your plates (hard dining room plates, not paper – impressive though wasteful too). Great experience and friendly staff. My new favorite chicken joint!

The seasonings on the chicken are created from Guatemala recipes. A little pricey but the meal was good. Give it a try. Tempt your taste buds. Also it has a nice outdoor seating area.

I came here for lunch. I ordered the Campero Bowl. It has rice, pinto beans, lettuce, tomatoes, corn, cojita cheese, peppers, onions and guacamole and one cut up chicken tender. I also got a chicken empanada. The total was $16 without the drink. The food came out fast and it was fresh and hot. The empanada was a disappointment. Tasted like a Hot Pocket. It was small, soft like it had been microwaved and the flavor was like it had ketchup or something in it. The bowl was ok. It lacked seasoning and a little skimpy on the portions. I’ll be back to try other items

Yes, we have a Pollo Campero! Famous Central American Chicken! The chicken was hot and fresh. Yucca was good. This location has a good patio area. They bring the food out to you. It was also pet friendly for the patio outside. They seemed pretty busy, so the chicken was hot and fresh and not sitting under a heat lamp.
