I dined in a week ago. Our experience was very good. A. Young lady Areial that waited on us. The food was good the atmosphere was nice but the young lady Ariel helped us inside with getting my brother inside the restaurant and my brother is in a wheelchair. Areila was our waitress as well. She continued helping us our whole visit at Salt & Smoke. I hope she gets recognized for her outstanding work

All the food was great and unique, i got the 4 meat plate and the burnt ends, wings, balongna, and ribs were delicious, the sides i tried were the beef fat fries and the macaroni & cheese both were delicious and their signature old fashions were really tasty and unique.

I tried the grilled cheese brisket, which was just okay, decent but nothing particularly memorable. The mac and cheese with crackers added a nice texture that complemented the pasta.

For dessert, I had the lemon-infused butter cake. While it had potential, the lemon flavor was a bit overpowering and masked the richness of the butter cake itself.

I ordered everything for takeout, so I’m thinking the overall experience might be better when dining in. I do plan to come back and give it another try , hopefully, the in-house experience will bring out more of what this place has to offer.

Saturday night it was fantastic. Service was great. We loved the chicken skins, the best! Enjoyed the full rack great bark! The fatty cut of brisket was melt in your mouth. A lot like Texas BBQ.

I love that they service popovers and not cornbread!!

The pit master is the MVP here!! Look forward to visiting!

Everything about Salt + Smoke was on point. The spare ribs were absolutely delicious—tender, flavorful, and perfectly smoked. The Old Fashioned was one of the best I’ve had, so good I ended up buying two of their house bottles to take home: the Walnut Old Fashioned and Pig Candy Bourbon. The vibe inside is great with a huge whiskey selection and a welcoming bar setup. If you’re into BBQ and bourbon, this spot is a must!

My husband and I had never been to this restaurant and were very happy with our experience! We had Dana as our server and she was excellent! We were seated immediately and our questions about the menu answered thoroughly. All staff members were very friendly and attentive to us while there.
The food was outstanding and served quickly even though it was a busy Friday night and the restaurant was full.
The only downside was the customers in the next booth were extremely loud, especially when laughing, but that was not a restaurant issue at all. We will be back. We used their waitlist option as a reservation, it was great. Be sure to ask for some maple butter with the popover- it was amazing!

Salt + Smoke Ellisville recently hosted a Southern Wine pairing event that was nothing short of exceptional. One of the two owners personally hosted the evening, even taking the time to refill drinks, which added a personal touch to the experience. The intimate setting, with only 14 guests at the table, made the event feel exclusive and cozy, allowing us to connect with fellow diners and share plenty of laughs.
The menu was a delightful journey through Southern flavors, featuring cheesy jalapeño cornbread with hot honey, a hearty seafood and sausage gumbo, smoked chicken with grits and greens, and a decadent peach cobbler with bourbon butter pecan ice cream. Each dish was served in generous portions, ensuring no one left hungry.
The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, contributing to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, Salt + Smoke provided an unforgettable evening filled with delicious food, great company, and a genuine sense of camaraderie. I highly recommend attending one of these exclusive events the next time they have one!

We live very close to this S&S location and had high hopes it would be as good as its sister restaurant in U City. For whatever reasons it is not.

Tonight we went for dinner with our adult daughter and my sister, for adults. There were very few people in the restaurant which immediately caused us a little bit of concern. We ordered to pull pork platters and a two meat platter. The brisket and burnt ends were unpalatable. The meat was so tough it could not be eaten. The meat was cut in large 2” square chunks which is not how brisket is served in any BBQ place Any of us had ever gone to in our combined 215 years. Without exception, all of the sides that were supposed to be hot were barely warm. My wife even asked about the popovers which were served cold if they were available fresh and hot.

Suffice to say that for $65 + tip for the nice young lady who was doing her best to help us and deal with the problems, this is not acceptable in any restaurant.

If the management of this restaurant doesn’t turn things around, this S&S won’t survive.

Go to Sugarfire in Fenton if you’re looking for barbecue office this direction. I think you’ll be a lot happier with the meal you will get there.

To go order.
Where to begin.

First fun discovery.
Plastic bag in the pulled pork. Yes, a plastic bag was buried inside of our food.

Second amazing discovery. Hair inside of the wings. Baked into them. Multiple wings.

I’ve been a fan of the U City Salt + Smoke for a long time, I also enjoy the Old Town St. Charles location, particularly in the summertime. Now the Ellisville location is a favorite of mine too, my mom lives nearby in Ballwin so that gives me a chance to visit regularly. Ellisville Salt + Smoke has their kitchen dialed. Lately I’ve been ordering the lean brisket with a couple of burnt end pieces in there too. For sides, hard to beat their fresh green beans with tomatoes, and I’ll usually order fries and a mini salad as well. Their bourbon menu is outstanding, I’ve enjoyed it over the years, but lately I’ve been drinking draft beer, and Salt + Smoke has a great selection. Their draft setups pour well and they’ve got friendly, experienced bartenders making it all happen. I should give a shout out to bartenders Rose and Jenny at the Ellisville location, both are super pro and make the dining experience at the bar easy and fun. I should also mention that the Ellisville location has been scheduling excellent live music lately- like exceptional, impressive rotation of musicians- so check the schedule if live music is something you enjoy. 5 Stars across the board, keep up the good work!
