I’m not sure if this is due to low customer traffic recently, but overall, I did not enjoy my time there.
While the dishes were presented nicely, the food itself did not meet my expectations. I ordered a roasted duck dish, and the meat was almost raw. When I brought this to their attention, they did recook it, which I appreciated. However, even after that, I did not feel the dish was worth the time or money.
The ingredients did not seem to be of good quality, and it felt more like reheated food, at least from my perspective. Overall, the experience was disappointing. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and improves in the future.
For 3 drinks and 2 entrees it came to 114, not even including tip. Each drink was 12-16 and the food was around 30 per entree. The table we sat at was wobbly, but they fixed it for us after asking. Service was slow for being not busy, and the food was not the best but it was still good. I would’ve 100% unfortunately preferred a cheaper restaurant. The drinks on the other hand were amazing! Unfortunately very expensive drinks but lowkey worth the price.
This being said, while the options are limited the food being served is immaculate. This time, I got the pink grouper and it was wonderfully cooked along side some potatoes and green beans; both of which were what you’d expect from a nicer restaurant.
My wife received the 16 oz. New York strip which came with two large pats of truffle butter. My only complaint with this is those two large pats create an incredibly rich steak, almost nauseatingly so.
The service and atmosphere are friendly and professional, the location leaves something to be desired and I could see how Truffles atmosphere could be improved upon by a stand alone location. This, by no means however, affects the quality of the service and food.
Overall, we’re seeing four stars due to a limited menu and more to be desired atmosphere but I must stress, the food is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone wanting something nice for dinner in Bloomington, namely anniversaries, birthdays, or fancy dates.
We had 7:15 reservations, but when we arrived it was clear the restaurant wasn’t ready for us — I’m not even sure they knew we had a reservation. The host seated us, and then nothing happened for about 30 minutes. No server, no water, no acknowledgment at all. We finally had to flag the host down just to get some water.
When someone finally came to take our order, we were hopeful things would improve. Instead, it took another 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Thankfully, when it did, it was excellent. Every dish was prepared beautifully, and the kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing. Unfortunately, that was the only redeeming part of the evening.
The service was disorganized, inattentive, and honestly indifferent. Everyone we interacted with was polite, but there was no effort to make guests feel attended to. It was as if our table didn’t exist.
As we were leaving, someone who seemed to be the manager asked how our meal was. We explained what had happened, and he offered a brief “sorry,” but that was it — no attempt to make it right or even to seem genuinely concerned.
This was one of the worst service experiences I’ve had in Bloomington. The food was incredible, but great food doesn’t make up for being ignored all night. I cannot imagine returning.
