This was my first time visiting Truffles, and unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. The ambiance and cleanliness need significant improvement. The interior was not very inviting and there was an unpleasant smell. I was seated in a booth, but it was quite uncomfortable. The restrooms were also not properly maintained.

I’m not sure if this is due to low customer traffic recently, but overall, I did not enjoy my time there.

While the dishes were presented nicely, the food itself did not meet my expectations. I ordered a roasted duck dish, and the meat was almost raw. When I brought this to their attention, they did recook it, which I appreciated. However, even after that, I did not feel the dish was worth the time or money.

The ingredients did not seem to be of good quality, and it felt more like reheated food, at least from my perspective. Overall, the experience was disappointing. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and improves in the future.

The food was excellent but our first choice from the specials were gone so, after sitting with the menu for a while, our server should have let us know that before we finally ordered it. The steak tips with the cavatappi was delicious. The cocktail shrimp special was ok; the shrimp were not fresh and were a bit chewy. The cocktail sauce was excellent though. We both had the daily special biscotti which were small compared to the mound of canned whipped cream. Finally, I couldn’t have coffee with my dessert because the coffee machine was broken (another thing the server should have let us know when we got the dessert menus.

Go for the bar! Not for the food…

For 3 drinks and 2 entrees it came to 114, not even including tip. Each drink was 12-16 and the food was around 30 per entree. The table we sat at was wobbly, but they fixed it for us after asking. Service was slow for being not busy, and the food was not the best but it was still good. I would’ve 100% unfortunately preferred a cheaper restaurant. The drinks on the other hand were amazing! Unfortunately very expensive drinks but lowkey worth the price.

We’ve been looking for a good, chef-led restaurant since we moved to Bloomington last year. So many places in town seem to cater to the college-aged crowd. We think we’ve finally found our new “regular” place! The host greated us with a warm, genuine smile. After being seated, our server was very attentive and friendly. Unlike many places we’ve been to in Bloomington, we weren’t rushed to finish our appetizers and first course by the premature arrival of our entrees; after our server collected our plates, she said she would let the kitchen know we were ready for our main courses. The food was delicious! And simply presented. Portions were spot on, even for the desserts. We’ll definitely be back

We were sat at the bar immediately upon arrival, since we came in before our reservation. We had a few drinks, then we were taken to our table and we had great service and great food! I loved the filet and I would return here again!

This has been my second visit to Truffles and both times I’ve stay impressed. The service, food, and atmosphere is very good – however the menu suffers due to this. Short of their daily specials, the entrees are limited and seem to typically include either fish, chicken, or steak. There are a couple pasta options and a portion of the daily specials had vegetarian fare as well.

This being said, while the options are limited the food being served is immaculate. This time, I got the pink grouper and it was wonderfully cooked along side some potatoes and green beans; both of which were what you’d expect from a nicer restaurant.

My wife received the 16 oz. New York strip which came with two large pats of truffle butter. My only complaint with this is those two large pats create an incredibly rich steak, almost nauseatingly so.

The service and atmosphere are friendly and professional, the location leaves something to be desired and I could see how Truffles atmosphere could be improved upon by a stand alone location. This, by no means however, affects the quality of the service and food.

Overall, we’re seeing four stars due to a limited menu and more to be desired atmosphere but I must stress, the food is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone wanting something nice for dinner in Bloomington, namely anniversaries, birthdays, or fancy dates.

Maybe it was an off night???

We had 7:15 reservations, but when we arrived it was clear the restaurant wasn’t ready for us — I’m not even sure they knew we had a reservation. The host seated us, and then nothing happened for about 30 minutes. No server, no water, no acknowledgment at all. We finally had to flag the host down just to get some water.

When someone finally came to take our order, we were hopeful things would improve. Instead, it took another 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Thankfully, when it did, it was excellent. Every dish was prepared beautifully, and the kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing. Unfortunately, that was the only redeeming part of the evening.

The service was disorganized, inattentive, and honestly indifferent. Everyone we interacted with was polite, but there was no effort to make guests feel attended to. It was as if our table didn’t exist.

As we were leaving, someone who seemed to be the manager asked how our meal was. We explained what had happened, and he offered a brief “sorry,” but that was it — no attempt to make it right or even to seem genuinely concerned.

This was one of the worst service experiences I’ve had in Bloomington. The food was incredible, but great food doesn’t make up for being ignored all night. I cannot imagine returning.

Truly excellent food and wine. Large wine list by the glass and bottle. Great cocktails. The food is inspired. The menu is not broad but has a good selection of steak, fish, and chicken. Service is excellent. It is upscale dining in a casual setting. Don’t be fooled by the strip mall exterior.

Our new favorite restaurant in town! The food is five stars and the service is five stars. We always love their caesar salad and the mushroom truffle soup. This time we had the chicken and the filet which were so good! The head chef walked around and introduced himself, we enjoyed chatting with him for a few minutes. A great experience overall and we will be coming back again and again.

Very lovely restaurant, although an unorthodox location ( next to a Kroger). Not crowded at all. Staff was nicely dressed, extremely courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. Bread was wonderful, butter room temp ( THANK YOU) Bartender will make what you want even if it’s not on the menu. Steak was tender and cooked well, Caeser Salad was pretty tasteless, not much dressing at all.
