We have kept the metal piece, the contaminated slice, the rest of the pizza, the packaging, and the receipt. I have already reported the incident to Papa John’s and to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Parents should be aware of this incident. Foreign metal objects in food can cause serious injury, especially to children. I hope the store will conduct a thorough investigation and take immediate corrective action.
We ordered XL custom pizza and garlic knots. Both were good and really liked them. Will visit them again.
I specifically ordered a large Garden Fresh pizza, which is advertised as a vegetarian pizza with tomatoes, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and black olives. What I received was a nightmare for any vegetarian.
After a few bites, I noticed a strange, greasy chunk that was decidedly NOT a mushroom or any vegetable. Upon closer inspection and after picking through the toppings in horror, I found multiple pieces of ground beef scattered across my pizza.
This is not a simple “oops, wrong topping” mistake. This is a profound failure on every level:
1. Food Safety & Allergen Breach: Meat is not an allergen, but treating vegetarian dietary choices with this level of negligence is appalling. What if this was a more severe allergy? The cross-contamination alone is a major red flag.
2. False Advertising: You cannot market a pizza as a specific “Garden Fresh” vegetarian option and then have your kitchen staff treat it with such carelessness. It shows a complete disregard for the product description and the customer’s choice.
3. Quality Control is NON-EXISTENT: How does beef end up on a pizza where it has no business being? The person making it wasn’t paying attention, the person boxing it didn’t care to look, and the system failed entirely.
4. Wasted Money and a Ruined Meal: Not only did I have to throw the entire pizza away (once you find surprise meat, your appetite is gone), but I was left hungry, disgusted, and deeply disappointed.
I went back to returnit. No apologies or credit offered.
The pizza maybe had 8 pepperoni rounds(1 inch) and fewer pieces of mushroom. Worse, the tomato sauce and cheese barely covered the crust. In short, frozen pizza from Kroger is much better.
I ordered my pizza and asked not to cut for pick up. Of course they forgot and made me wait for another 15 min.
Update: Store manager reached out said it was an employee put a bad pepper in my box due to high volume of pizzas coming out from the oven. He offered 25% off for the next purchase.
The guy there was very rude!
Papa John’s, you need to train your staff customer service and they have to have an answer for every question!
What does it mean he doesn’t know anything about the app or online!! It’s a pizza place, not math, to learn. The staff have to know everything about the menu, deals and what the pizza contains! He didn’t even know how many toppings in that specific offer!! Doesn’t he cook it!!! Or just being rude to me! Very unprofessional! It was my first and definitely the last time in this location. I even walked out and didn’t order. Owners… u need to do something about it. I’m sure u r losing many customers.
