I hosted a surprise retirement party of a little over 20 people, and the back room was absolutely perfect for it! The restaurant was great in letting us have the tables setup as we wanted, hang up some decorations, and add personalized table decorations as well. We had a wonderful night of delicious food, fun games, and good vibes. The only down side was another party of the same size was present that night too, so each course of our meal took a while to come out. But overall the owner was great to work with for the occasion!

We made a reservation for 7:30 on Valentine’s Day . Got there at 7:20 only to be greeted with 20 people waiting at the door . I told the hostess we had a 7:30 reservation and she said it was going to be a few minutes . Ok , well a few minutes turned into 40 minutes until we were seated. Once seated we did not see a waiter for at least another 15 minutes . No bread, water or drinks or acknowledgment that we were there. We had the busboy brink us drinks. We finally ordered our food around 8:30 .Food came close to 9:30 . My wife ordered a veal chop that the chef should be embarrassed to send out . It was fatty and not cooked .We sent it back and I refused to pay $47 for it . All in all the night was a disaster. The reason was management tried to stuff too many people in an already small restaurant and waiters busboys and management were confused and overwhelmed. Terrible manager . Gave up service for the almighty dollar . We went there all the time but will not return.

Mamma Assunta is our “special occasion” Italian Restaurant! Delicious food, daily specials, attentive service and cozy atmosphere all lead to a great experience every time. We brought friends here from Wyoming to demonstrate to them what a real New York Italian restaurant is! They’d never experienced anything like it. This is one of the rare places where I’ve found Cannelloni on the regular menu and of course, it is delicious. Try the endive and pear salad with its bright lemony dressing, or the linguine with clams, which my companion said were the best he’d had in many, many years. Portions are generous and if I attempt having a primi and a secondi, I roll right out of there. Great for leftovers or sharing the primi. Desserts are wonderful, too, so do keep that in mind when ordering …

Just remember that you need to look a little bit for Mamma Assunta. The plaza is up a few stairs, and the restaurant is at the back of the plaza, so it’s not easy to see from the street. Very well worth the little bit of effort, though.

Came here for dinner one night, and have to say that I was very impressed with the food. It’s very unassuming given its location tucked away in a mini mall. The pasta is amazing and very fresh. Service is very friendly – they brought food in a timely manner. Atmosphere was nice – it’s straddled between being a casual and fancy Italian restaurant. Outdoor seating got a little bit noisy towards the end of the evening.

Food – 15/20
Service – 6/10
Atmosphere – 7/10

Total – 28/40

Amazing restaurant! They accidentally brought out a meat option when I asked for vegetarian, and were late to bring out our drinks. Other than that, the food was great!

We go to Mamma Assunta Ristorante quite often. It the winter time the soup is always hot and comforting. there is also a welcoming wood burning fire place that adds to the appeal of this lovely restaurant. The dishes are carefully prepared and always excellent. I love the past dishes. There are also surprise specials daily. In addition they serve a lovely salad before the meal arrives as well as delicious warm Italian bread. The staff are kind and considerate.
