The Pier is Latrobe and surrounding areas leader in new food trends and restaurant space. The Pier restaurant has the ability for outside seating in the entire restaurant. 300 degrees of open air seating. We would say our style of food is trendy twist on classic with coal fired pizzas, cast iron dishes featuring fresh seafood, steaks and healthy dishes. We carry over 80 different bottles of wine and over 100 craft beers. Our bar is special in that we make nearly all of our cocktails and mixers in house with fresh ingredients. Don’t worry you won’t miss any sports action while sitting outside our TVs are big enough, you can see them from everywhere. I was genuinely excited to try this place—it was my first time in the area, and the name alone had me curious. A “pier” in a landlocked town should’ve been my first clue. While the atmosphere was the highlight—open-air patio, summer vibes, and a casual sports bar feel—the experience quickly went downhill.
We chose to sit outside, but the menus handed to us were nearly impossible to read due to poor lighting, and I have perfect vision. Service started slow and never picked up. We ordered drinks and waited long enough to decide on dinner before they arrived.
I went with the Jack Daniel’s Chicken Fiesta, avocado corn mash, and a salad. Unfortunately, the chicken was rubbery and drowned in a heavy brown gravy with mushy onions and undercooked peppers. The avocado mash was the only redeeming item—interesting and flavorful, but completely mismatched with the chicken. It would’ve worked better as a standalone appetizer with chips.
The salad was fine, but the wrong dressing was brought out. Despite having plenty of staff on hand, we felt overlooked. No one checked in, offered refills, or asked if we wanted another drink—water, soda, or otherwise.
Overall, it felt like a place coasting on its vibe while neglecting the basics. I won’t be rushing back.
I first started with the half pound of peel and eat shrimp which came in Cajun seasoning and Old Bay seasoning.
I then got the seafood Alfredo which I really enjoyed. The Alfredo was quite unique as the flavor paired with the seafood popped inside my mouth with every bit I took. There was garlic bread which came together with it and a salad. Their strawberry dressing which came with it was 10/10.
I recommend this place to everyone! 10/10!
Had their Coal Fired Mac Attack Pizza and Cast Iron Skillet Dill Salmon. Some of the best local food we had in a long time
Huge selection of food. Prices range from not bad to pretty expensive (typically for the steak).
Their Creme Brûlée was like it was strawberry champagne infused. Definitely try that if they still have it.
Will definitely go again.
My husband and I had the seafood Alfredo and we had the Cajun shrimp for an appetizer, the pasta and appetizer were both delicious! We were super full after the meal! Recommend especially in the summer!
Service was amazing, would definitely go
back Highly suggest it!
