Don’t let the unassuming location fool you—Slow Rise Bakery is a destination. This isn’t just a generic coffee stop; it’s an experience that engages all your senses from the moment you walk in.

The first thing that hits you is the incredible aroma—a solid mix of rich coffee and the sweet, warm scent of baking bread. It’s the kind of welcome that instantly makes you feel at home. The atmosphere is wonderfully welcoming; it’s a cute, bustling shop where you’ll see students studying, friends catching up, and families enjoying a weekend treat. The space feels lived-in and loved

Their coffee smells amazing, and the taste lives up to the promise. It’s the perfect complement to their baked goods. I also have to give a special mention to their bread. After seeing so many people rave about it, I took a loaf of the sourdough home, and it was some of the best I’ve had outside of a major city.

This place is a genuine treasure in Forest Grove. It’s the kind of spot you’ll find yourself planning your weekend around. Do yourself a favor and go. Just be sure to go early—the best things sell out fast

Top five best bakeries in the Portland area (I know Forest Grove is a few extra steps, I promise you it’s worth it) YOU MUST have the Morning Bun, and Ham & Gruyère Croissant, but everything is delicious

Extra note: the customer service is wildly wonderful, everyone is always so kind, AND they make extra bread to give back to their community. This doesn’t make the food taste better, but it does make my day brighter!

Although we live on the coast, we’re in Forest Grove fairly often, and when we are, we always stop at Slow Rise Bakehouse for delicious bread and baked treats. Forest Grove is the perfect midway meeting spot between us in Nehalem and our friends in Portland and the food here is outstanding! On this day, we were meeting friends in wine country and stopped for a croissant breakfast sandwich (recommended!), cup of coffee, and a game of cribbage!

You won’t get a bread or croissant with this amount of intrinsic flavor anywhere else in the Portland metro area- trust me, I’ve tried. If you haven’t been yet, THIS is what bread is supposed to taste like. 150% worth a visit every time. Not only are the pastries, breakfasts, and drinks phenomenally good, but owners Dave and Meredith are truly wonderful people. A shining jewel in Forest Grove!
P.S. Go early for their day-old bread- cheaper, fresher, and way better than store bought could dream of.

Slow Rise Bakery House in Oregon is one of those rare places that feels both familiar and quietly exceptional the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is calm, the staff is genuinely welcoming, and everything on the shelves looks like it was made with real care.

The standout for me is their Asiago sundried tomato bread. It has a rich, savory depth that hits you right away, with the cheese and tomatoes balancing each other perfectly. The crust has just the right amount of bite, and the inside stays soft without losing structure. It is the kind of loaf that makes even a simple slice feel like a small event.

Everything else I have tried has been consistently well made, but that Asiago sundried tomato bread is the reason I keep going back. Slow Rise Bakery House has earned a spot on my regular rotation, and it is absolutely worth a visit for anyone who appreciates thoughtful, skillful baking.

We stopped in Forest Grove to get some steps and realized it was lunchtime. Saw this place and decided to give it a try. I ordered the avocado toast with an egg. It was amazing! Husband ordered a ham and sausage croissant sandwich. He said it was delicious too. Would have gave 5 stars, but the person taking the order was kinda grumpy. But the delicious food made up for the grump.

My favorite bakery so far as they source their grains locally that are stone ground and do not include any chemicals especially no glyphosate! They use sourdough starter for all their baked goods. It’s the only bread I can eat… and they sell half loaves!! I love this place I hope it stays open forever
