I’ve lived in Santa Cruz for almost five years and have only recently gotten to try Engfer Pizza Works. Where have I been because they really offer one of the better vegan pizzas in town.
They sport a large array of vegetarian friendly pizzas that can be veganized by removing the cheese (obvs) and using their house-made tofu spread and red sauce as a base for any pizza. They also offer a gluten-free crust too.
Being newbies, it was fitting for us to try their New-Bee Pizza (vegan style) – a toasty mix of garlic, olives, and red bell peppers. A large sets us back about $35 including tax. We also ordered their soup of the day, which was this creamy sweet potato stew that was fully plant-based too.
Our pizza was fantastic. Took about 15 minutes to come out but the crispy pizza crust with the fragrant toppings was really great. My only wish would be if they had some plant-based meat options or other appetizers besides the pizzas since we were hungry, but the pie itself was just great.
Drinks are easy to handle as well. You simply serve yourself water or head over to the large fridges to grab another beverage of your choice, and pay at the end along with your pizza.
Street parking is available if you’re lucky to find some. It wasn’t a problem for us visiting even late at night on a weekend.

Engfers is the only place I feel happy. Wednesday nights are the best night to go as that is when trivia takes place. Jackson the host frequently fat shames my cat, however it does not take away from the absolute delight I feel from the ambiance of the restaurant. Bronwyn makes the best pizzas by far, so don’t come when she’s not working (Liz you should schedule her more). Overall, engfers is the place to be.

You can buy slices or a whole pie. Bottom line, it’s a thin crust pizza. 1 small 10” pizza is truly for one person. Sauce is ok, crust is subpar. It’s just pricey for thin crust pizza.

Lives in the crew through thick and thin, have stayed open and still produce one of the best pizzas in Santa Cruz County. I just had a combo the other night and it was absolutely delicious. Well waiting for the pizza I had a wonderful pilsner.

So i ordered on the phone a 14inch 3 topping pizza, chicken been one , with carameized onion and mushrooms, only 14 litle pieces of chiken in the whole pizza, seems like im eating just onion, the menu pictures of the black board are completly diferent when you get there, i went expecting to pay $25 plus taxes, and end up paying $38, and when i comented that the prices on google where diferent ahe told me that that must be 15 years ago, like if she doesn’t care. So poor customer service, overrated piza and wrong online prices. Definitely not worth to expend your money there.

Loved the pizza here and the drink selection! There are quite a few brews to choose from and you can play ping pong while you wait for your food to be prepared. We had a supreme pizza and it came out tasting amazing and the service was also excellent. We will be back next time we are in town.

Small neighborhood pizzeria. This was our first time trying it out. They cater to meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans. We are always on the hunt for a good vegan pizza and they didn’t disappoint. Thin tasty crust hot out of the wood fired oven. Fresh organic toppings. We had the aces wild vegan and their eggplant special made vegan. Looking forward to going back. The carnivores were loving their pepperoni and bacon pie. The drive was easy from my home even with the Murray bridge closure. As a bonus, easy walk to the beach after dining. Check it out!
