Second time at this BBQ joint. Came back mainly for the Beef Short Ribs which is only available every other Sunday. And it didn’t disappoint.
The Spare Ribs were good as usual. But the Briskets and Corn Muffins are a big dry. Therefore I’m only giving 4 stars for the food.
Service is great and as a bonus treat, Greg from “Grub with Greg” YT channel and his son came in, so you know it’s gotta be good for this to be his frequent spot.

We tried the brisket plate with sweet potato everything was delicious.
The brisket was tender and smoky, and the sweet potato side was the highlight, sweet and crunchy on top, and perfectly seasoned.
It’s a great spot if you’re craving BBQ with friendly service.
Would definitely come back for their brisket again.

Best BBQ spot in Southern California for sure ! Beautiful smoke ring… Even the smoked turkey is so moist and the best I have ever had. Sides are great. Best of all the onion rings are made to perfection. Staff is amazing and the owner is so kind, friendly and is always there to make sure quality is on point. He has over 300 awards for his BBQ. We usually travel out of state for good BBQ and now we have one in our backyard. You can come to watch a game and a beer too at the bar. They also sell beef ribs very other Sunday.

We ordered a large beef brisket set with two sides and the beef rib. Just slight nitpicks but the flavor was as expected, really good. 90% of the meat was juicy and tender, but there were a part of the beef rib and brisket that was overtly tough and dry. The service was nice, the owner or the head cook came and greeted everyone and asked how everyone’s meal was. We came at a great time early when they opened on Sunday and we watched as it slowly got packed.

If you’re looking for top tier BBQ, this place delivers. From the moment we walked in, the smell of smoked meats set the tone for an incredible meal. The pit master, Rick, personally came out to greet us, and his passion for BBQ was evident. He was welcoming and made the experience even better.

The star of the show was the meat perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and incredibly tender. The brisket had a beautiful bark and melted in your mouths, the pulled pork was juicy and flavorful, and the ribs had the perfect smoky crust. The sides were solid, simple but satisfying. If you’re serious about great barbecue, this spot is a must-visit.

As someone who has had Texas bbq, I got intrigued by the reviews / reading up on the pit master.
Everything I had was delicious, but that brisket was SO GOOD. So tender and pull apart and so tasty.
The service was so nice too. I asked if they had a spicer bbq sauce and they whipped 2 different ones up for me in like 2 min. 100% will come back

Thank you God for allowing me to find the best BBQ place in OC, LA and most likely all of the west coast. Met the pitman/owner who has won many many many awards for his bbq. I loved it.. as a bbq enthusiast.. this place is amazing and I will definitely go here again and again. He sells every other Sunday beef ribs which is amazing

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Friendly staff, quick to go service, and delicious food! The spare ribs were my favorite with the meat falling easily off the bone. In my opinion, 1/2 rack is enough for 3 people. I didn’t realize this and ordered 1.5 racks I loved the onion rings. However, not sure I’d pay $10 for them. If you love ribs, I definitely recommend this place!

This is a legit BBQ restaurant even in the OC. It would rival those in the BBQ belt as well. The meats are as tender as can be and yet still hold their form. Each of the meats (turkey, ribs, brisket) we ate maintained their original flavors along with the rubs, smoke, and cooking. The pastrami was some of the best I’ve tasted (even from the back east kosher Deli). We carried out an addional pastrami sandwich for later (in parts to be constructed later do as not mix things too early and make the sandwich soggy).
Then there’s the “World Famous” onion rings. Yes, they are hand-made, sweet, and special. The coleslaw was a little sweat, yet also had that tangy kick that made it great as well.
You can tell that Rick really puts his national award winning BBQ mastery and heart to work in this place. I/we look forward to coming back often and trying all the entries and sides here. The service was very nice and quick. The bacground music was great. This is a must try restaurant.

If you’re in Orange and craving some top-notch BBQ, Hickory and Spice BBQ is your spot! It’s run by Pitmaster Rick Mysse, who’s not only a BBQ champ with over 200 trophies under his belt but also a local legend with a serious love for smoked meats. This place opened up on the corner of Tustin Ave. and Meats, and it’s quickly becoming a go-to for BBQ lovers.

I stopped by and tried the Beef Brisket and Pork Ribs, and let me tell you, both were melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The brisket had that perfect smoky flavor and tender texture, while the ribs were just the right amount of sticky and sweet – you could taste the passion in every bite!

Hickory and Spice BBQ is open from Thursday to Sunday, and they sometimes sell out, so make sure to get there early. It’s definitely a must-visit for anyone who appreciates good BBQ and a family-friendly vibe. Highly recommend it!
