Reviews
Summary: Food was mediocre; Floor was dirty; Service was nice but not knowledgeable.
Overall, Persis needs better management.
Food: The food was little more than mediocre. Some elements were outright undercooked, and the temperature tended to be lukewarm. This could be a one time issue though. Taste was decent though.
Property: The restaurant itself was very small. Almost the whole restaurant was a hospital white, save one rock wall.
The floor was dirty, with spots of grime and fallen items, a result of poor management.
The tables failed to impress. They were completely white and lacked tablecloth, causing any dropped food to be very noticeable. However, this might change soon, considering this place is new.
The chairs are also white and hard, comfort completely out of the picture, unless you sit on a sofa.
Service: The waiter was nice. The server was nice. The manager was nice.
The best part of the restaurant was probably the service. The staff were extremely patient and friendly.
There was an issue though where the waiter did not know the menu, a result of lack of management. This is not the waiter’s fault, however the waiter handled the situation extremely well.
The manager did not explain any items in a way people would understand or remember.
Overall, the thing this place needs most is better management.
Edit: food does not taste as it did before. Just had lunch buffet and food is horrid, save the time and go to another restaurant nearby. I used to come around every week or so, don’t think I’ll be back. Buffet was great two weeks ago, I think they change staff often perhaps..
The cook himself told us once that they cook fresh food only on tuesdays and then use it all week. So that tells how bad quality they serve.
I would never recommend.
We had: Vegetable Samosa, Goat Briyani and a combo lunch portion of Shrimp Moolie. The combo included the entree, rice, naan and a portion of carrot halwa.
Everything about today’s visit was amazing! The table service was superb! Drinks were refilled often. The timing of the food being brought out was perfect (meal was served not long after we finished appetizer but not too much of space in between). They were very conscious of dietary restrictions (I can’t have dairy). The owner and cook came out to greet us, make sure we enjoyed the meal and thanked us for visiting.
Above all, the food was cooked great and tasted superb. The samosas tasted like a family recipe. The goat in the briyani was very tender. I personally have never had shrimp moolie, before today. This was an extra special treat as I often don’t get to have curry with gravy when dining out, because of the use of heavy cream and ghee. This dish has a coconut milk base and was delicious.
If you haven’t been here, you must check it out. If you’ve been here before and like me did not really enjoy the experience, give it another chance and visit under the new management. I will definitely visit again.
This place has been closed for some time now. Hope something is changing.
The chefs add a lot of salt when the food is stale.
I am a regular visitor so i know what is fresh and what not. Have to be choosy.. plates are not clean.
Wierd food arrangement. Blocks the person trying to pay the bill.. seriously did they even use their brains.
Folks don’t pickup phone when they are nearing closing time.(and most of the time.. i end up calling prems chennai delight)
Biryani is good. No denying. Always to go.
