New BBQ restaurant opens in Platte City – The Platte County Citizen
Iron Horse BBQ opened its doors to in Platte City just weeks ago, and its owner, Anthony Kasl, is already starting to feel at home.

As a huge BBQ enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for the next best place to go indulge my smokey cravings. A friend of mine told me about a fairly new to town place up in Platte City named Iron Horse. Of course I had to go check it out!
I’ve been there a handful of times and have yet to be disappointed. The ribs, the sliced beef, the turkey are all outstanding. But the crown jewel of this place HAS to be the burnt ends. Up until Friday night, my favorite burnt ends came from a little place down on SW Boulevard that sits right next to a Mexican restaurant. Iron Horse has now moved into my 1st place spot.
On any given day you’ll see a sold out placard over the burnt ends on the menu. What you need to do is call ahead a day or two and let them know you’re coming. They will make as much as you’d like. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

Homemade baked beans and homemade potato salad. Delicious food. Beef Brisket tender. Onion rings awesome. Highly recommend.

Kansas City BBQ homemade in Kansas City. How else is there? The staff were wonderful and treated guests as friends. We were passing through on a road trip and located Iron Horse BBQ based on the reviews. Hands down the best choice of this cross country trip. Pulled Pork was excellent and the sauce was amazing. If you want a great experience and delicious BBQ, look no more!

Absolutely 5 stars! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. And the food was phenomenal! I ordered a dinner plate with 2 meats and 2 sides. I chose the brisket which was so tender and perfectly smoked. The smoked sausage was amazing as well! Very hard to find brisket that is smoked just right. I ordered fries and baked beans for the sides. The baked beans were amazing as well. Everything very tasty. That guy who left a bad review was probably on drugs or something because he sure wasn’t talking about this place. I say, go for it! You WILL NOT be disappointed!

The BBQ pulled pork sandwich is the best I have ever had!! The meat was moist, tender, with a wonderful smoke flavor. The sweet sauce was tangy and yummy! The young waitress was so friendly and courteous. The inside of the place looked a little worn-down, but they are moving to a bigger and better site in August. Next time I travel through this area, I will definitely make a stop for a meal!

Great food and friendly service at Iron Horse BBQ! The only downside to my visit, was the length of time it took for my order to be prepared. There was just one young lady there working as both the cashier and cook initially, but then an older gal came out and spoke to me – I believe she might have been either the owner or manager, and explained to me that staffing had been a big problem for their business during Covid-19. Regardless of their staffing issues, they still put their best foot forward and served us up some tasty BBQ!

Iron Horse BBQ is Platte City’s best kept secret!!
If you have not tried this place, I’m telling you, run don’t walk! The food is absolutely wonderful. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are large. They also have available a cold beer if you decide you would like to have a beer with your barbecue. They have three different types of barbecue sauce and it’s all served on the side so you can try them all. The baked beans were delicious. The coleslaw was very good. The french fries were wonderful. The meal is served with your choice of breads I chose their toast and it was excellent. I will be spreading the word about this wonderful restaurant. I plan to become a regular. Fantastic job! Kudos to the Iron Horse BBQ. Well done!

We tried this a month after it opened in Platte City. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Now, understand I’m very picky about my BBQ so I’m not saying this place is awful but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Small portions, taste and flavor was average at best on meats, though the price wasn’t awful. It does look like they have gotten some good reviews recently so I’m hopeful it has gotten a lot better since we tried it last. I will give it another shot.

I am not a fan of burnt ends, but I’ll have to say Iron Horse changes my mind last night!
They were beyond delicious, great seasoning, so tender the melt in your mouth.
The green beers are amazing as well as the wings.
I highly recommend this bbq place they make all the other ones look sad compared to taste.
