Went for a late lunch and got a large classic philly cheesesteak combo. The cheesesteak was delicious, with sweet and spicy peppers, melty cheese, and lots of steak. The curly fries were also great. Satisfyingly crispy and seasoned well. The portions were large, making it quite a filling meal. No complaints about my experience here!

This was my favorite cheesesteak spot for many years. Seems like food quality has gone now. My last few sandwiches was lacking flavor. Could not taste any char from grill. Whoever made my recent sandwich skimped out on the peppers. They used to be load them up generously. The king size seems smaller than I remembered.

Delicious cheese steaks served close enough to Philly style to pass for me on this coast.

They’ve got some plaques on the wall describing some of the original Philly places that invented the cheesesteak.

Classic Philly tasted good, so were the curly fries. Their card reader does not have a “No Tip” option, which I think any counter service should have. You have to go to custom and actually set 0 for tip. And then the mustachioed guy will show you attitude when I fumble with the monitor. But the food is good, so who cares.

It’s hard to believe that more people are not familiar with this eatery. SF Gem? This place has been at same location ( Dividadero between Sutter & Bush) since I first was introduced to the foot-long Philly Cheese Steak sandwich w/ mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet peppers & hot sauce.,… uuh , back in 1987, topped off with large cup of Dr. Pepper light on the ice. You can have s/o of fries with your sandwich as well, also they have a interesting menu and different add- ones. The chefs and cashiers are respectable and down to earth . Place is always clean and there is always a sports game on the T.Vs. It’s a tradition for me to go at least once a week. I have my teenage son and his teammates frequenting the establishment. Trust me you must try it and don’t believe the old anecdote ” if you’ve taste one , you’ve taste them all!” No I promise you I’m a sandwich addict, and I’ve had some outstanding PCS sandwiches and some not so outstanding PCS sandwiches, but this shop sets the bar. Don’t believe me ? Give it a try for yourself,..

I ordered the classic cheese steak and it was pretty amazing. Great bread good quality meat and gooey cheese. The only problem here is that it really takes forever to get your order there were only two people ahead of me and I was there well over 25 minutes waiting for my order.

The people who work at the Cheese Steak Shop are wonderful, helpful and friendly. Alas, the Philly cheese steak is um, greasy, and the components tasted processed. I really wanted to like the food here more.

Ordered 5 cheesesteak sandwiches. 2 original with sweet peppers, hot peppers and grilled onions. 2 without the hot peppers. 1 sizzling pig with grilled onions. Sandwich tasted great. You can taste the cheese and the beef was juicy. The sweet peppers added a nice flavor. The bread made the sandwich unique from other places. It was tastier and easier to eat, more like hotdog style buns. Staff is friendly and you can also eat in, but tables are very limited. It took about 10 minutes to get our order because it’s made to order. Your best bet is going in off peak hours or just order online and pickup.

Very friendly staff serving beat philly sandwiches, better than the ones I tried in Philly . Curly fries are crisp and backed to perfection. Good variety of topings to keep you coming back fro more.
