We were immediately drawn to the large sign for the “famous” Aylwinator cheeseburger. A thick, perfectly cooked patty that radiated juiciness, enveloped in fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and drizzled with a simple yet astonishingly delicious sauce. This burger was sublime.
To accompany our burgers, we ordered a side of Mac n’ cheese and we are at a loss for words. We can confidently say this is the best we have ever tasted—no exaggeration. Thick, creamy shell noodles crowned with crispy breadcrumbs and green onions.
But it didn’t stop there. We followed that with a poutine worthy of our top 10 list. We loved everything about it, from the tangy gravy to the perfectly cut fries.
To wash it all down, a homemade lemonade & rye (at 11 am because we’re degenerates). It was refreshing and… very potent, .
We’re not sure when or why key lime became associated with BBQ, but we are all for it. This super creamy, refreshing, tangy delight was a perfect farewell to the summer vibes.
I’ve had phenomenal bbq in Texas and other famous bbq places and this is good brisket. I would definitely recommend.
It cost around $16 after tax.
And let’s not forget the dessert! The key lime pie was a true gem—creamy and tangy, just the way I like it. Everything was absolutely delicious, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was super relaxed. I highly recommend Aylwin BBQ—I’ll definitely be back for more!
Let’s talk about that brisket. First off, the spice rub is exquisite. The seasoning doesn’t overpower the meat flavor – it enhances it. The smoke is tasty, and again, not overpowering. They give you two sauces – one sweet and one spicy.
We also got the Famous Aylwinator Burger. This is perfection on a bun. Again, seasoned and smoked perfectly, awesome condiments, and made with care.
Last but not least, the people who work there are just plain cool. Super friendly, witty, and efficient. I will absolutely be back the next time I come to Montréal.
Tried the cheese burger, brisket sandwich and the Mac n Cheese.
They use toasted brioche buns for their sandwhich which we really liked.
Portions for the price is good. The big Mac n Cheese was heavy so unless you have a appetite sticking with the small is probably the smart move.
If you are looking for a snack or meal at the Atwater market, I would recommend this place! Loved it.
