The atmosphere was very inviting and the service was fabulous. Everybody super friendly. We started out with a bloody Mary and some appetizers, fried pickles and Southwest egg rolls. Both were quite tasty.
I ordered the quesadilla, which was good but a little chunkier than I prefer but still tasty. Hubby ordered a patty melt and added mushrooms and just loved it. The rest of the group did chicken wings Each had a different sauce and thought they were all good.
We would recommend stopping here and will definitely do so again next time we come hang in town!
We will definitely stop back next time. We’re in town and would highly recommend doing so if you are in the area.
Service was fantastic—friendly and attentive staff made the experience pleasant. ⏳ The food did take a little while to come out, but the laid-back atmosphere made the wait easier to handle.
Overall, a solid lunch spot in Decorah. I’d come back to explore more of the menu—just might skip the salmon next time!
The hamburgers were fresh and delicious; we loved both the classic and German variations. The fries were cooked just right with spot-on salt. The root beer instantly became a favorite.
Their homemade Butterfinger cheesecake sealed it. Easily the best cheesecake we’ve had anywhere; and that comes from a couple who spent the last decade traveling abroad.
I do not live here so if you’re coming here for something this is a good place.
Final: it was fine
The food was ok at best. I got a patty melt, the menu says Cooked Medium Well. Mine was very well done, little flavor and even less moisture. The fries were decent.
I was really surprised at how fast the cheese curds came out, but it came out so fast because they were under cooked. The small curds were done, but half of them were thick and still almost frozen in the middle.
The best part of our meal was the 1919 root beer on tap, which we never were asked if we wanted a refill.
No desire to return to a place that was so unwelcoming.
Great experience at T Bocks. I would highly recommend the bloody Mary! Great service and food. We ordered a parmesan chicken wrap, homemade coleslaw and homemade potato salad. All of which were very tasty! We would definitely eat there again.
Then came the meals themselves. Good news first – the BLT and fries was pretty darn good. Nicely toasted bread, a good balance of meat to veggies and the right amount of mayo, but friends… these are NOT chicken strips! These are chickie nuggies at best and the thing I always fear when I roll the dice on ordering chicken at a bar. I guess I expect for $13.50 that there will be actual strips of chicken tenders. Juicy and meaty…the kind I can peel the breading off of (my favorite way to eat chicken) first and then dunk the meat into the sauce. But no – these are sad and spongey affairs and frankly sucked. The coleslaw was GREAT, so you should definitely get that, and I always love a beer-battered fry.
Verdict: This wouldn’t be my first stop if I were to find myself back in downtown Decorah, but, if you avoid the chicken “strips” and are thirsty for beer, you could do worse.
