We had a great experience. We were able to be seated at the bar as we waited for a table to become available. The bar offered a moddest selection of draft beer as well as bottled beer. Their wine selection was great as well. I cannot speak to the cocktails because I did not take a deep dive into them, but I am sure I would have been able to get something made to my liking.
The menu is no over whelming and fits on one side of menu. Some people may are this as a “small” menu but I think it keeps people from getting over whelmed with a lot of options. Speaking from a stand point of the demographics of Basil, this is a good route to go.
Our appetizers came out very promptly and gave us something to eat while we waited for our food. The food did take a little while to reach our plates but we could tell that it was a combination with being a new restaurant as well as being busy on a Saturday evening.
The food was worth the wait and the portion sizes were decently sized for the price and quality of the food that we got.
As for the atmosphere, the area for tables was open and you don’t feel as if you’re going to bump into someone beside you. The booth section has high partitions and separate you from other people quite well for a more intimate dining experience.
Overall, I would recommend Basil to people to try at least once. It’s a great addition to Kenton community and is managed by a great management team that will make sure things get handled correctly. I expect many great things to come from this restaurant!

Visiting from Virginia Beach. Excellent place in Kenton. The mushroom appetizer was awesome. The meatloaf, panini, and baked ziti dishes are on point. The grandmother drinks were potent. Friendly staff and management. Look forward to coming back soon.

We’ve eaten here twice. First time we were not impressed but it was the first week they were open so I decided to not base an opinion off that. Second time we ate here was excellent. We waited a few months before trying it again and were glad we did. Food was excellent as well as portions. Service was also quick and the place is very inviting. I got the steak and it was cooked to perfection. The wife got the chicken alfredo. It could use a little more garlic but other than that it was pretty good. We also had the strawberry cheesecake and it was also great. Definitely happier the second time around. We will be back!

Great setting. Staff is nice. Just don’t get salads. I had the steak, my wife the chicken.
Her chicken extremely dried out, cucumbers clearly old. Mine was supposed to be 4oz of steak, though I doubt that. My arugula was wilted.
The pickled red onion was good though.
Daughter’s spaghetti ok, not worth the price.
