Went back for a second time and brought a friend with me!! We had the most delicious food, got to try the drinks this time as well!! Service was fantastic, the interior is gorgeous and the food and drinks are insane, you really get what you pay for. It shall be difficult for me to try and resist coming everyday !! Hidden gem in Colchester The chicken baguette is my favourite – it’s flavourful, tender with a crispy bread, balanced perfectly with the acidity from the pickled vegetables. Such a wide range of different unique drinks and coffees to choose from. Food is always delicious!

We had a lovely experience at Ella’s Ca Phe House, truly a hidden gem of Colchester. The venue is fairly small though this gave a nice cosy feel, we sat in a small nook beside the door.
The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit, looking at the menu I was impressed by the number of different varieties of Vietnamese coffees available (17). I chose a Cold Special Pistachio Latte Coffee which was creamy and delicious. The pricing was expensive at £7.50, however this seemed worth it for an authentic treat.
Next I tried the Honey Chicken with Lemongrass and Rice, this was tasty and made a very pleasant dish for lunch that afternoon. The chicken was fragrant with the lemongrass and cooked to perfection, this was served with steamed rice, carrot and white radish pickle, cucumber, coriander and homemade soy sauce. The pricing was reasonable at £13.50 for this dish.
I also ordered a Fresh Peach Iced Tea, this was lovely and the nicest iced tea I’ve tried to date. There was a strong tea flavour to the drink and juicy peach bits mixed in. It was very refreshing and priced okay at £5.50.
I really enjoyed my visit here and wouldn’t hesitate to return to try more of their menu.

Lovely little place with welcoming staff. The meat in the traditional banh mi was tasteful, juicy and tender. I look forward to coming back again to try the other banh mi options on the menu, and also the rice and noodle selections they have.
There is a wide variety of hot and cold drinks to choose from. The pumpkin spiced latte I ordered was really refreshing and delicious which was perfect for the cold, rainy day.
And there are many more options for food and drink on the wall, that are not on the menu, which I wish I had seen earlier. Just gives me more reason to come back to share with friends and family.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at Ella Cafe House. The food is delicious, I ordered the honey chicken rice.My sister order coffee was rich and delicious. Their fruit tea was just right for me to cool down in today’s hot weather. The staff also very friendly and kind. Very recommend it to everyone!!

Such a great little treasure in the centre of town. We first visited because of the amazing smells drifting onto the street. It did not disappoint. My partner is gluten intolerant and it’s great for him as most dishes are with rice or rice noodles, and I don’t have to sacrifice on taste. Love the Vietnamese summer rolls, which I usually get with a half chicken bahn mi. A real treat.

We finally tried Ella’s Vietnamese Kitchen for lunch today and were not disappointed! I had no idea baguettes were a feature of Vietnamese cuisine, but I’m so glad I found out. My partner and I shared the honey chicken and pork baguettes; they were delicious, with very generous portions and reasonable prices. We will definitely be coming back!
