Our trip to Le Bec Sucré in Rhode Island was nothing short of magical. This French artisan bakery has quickly become one of our favorite discoveries—a place where passion for craft meets warm hospitality.
We arrived early in the morning and were greeted by a line of people stretching into the parking lot, all eager to experience the bakery’s renowned creations. The doors opened promptly at 7 AM, and despite the crowd, there was this unspoken excitement in the air. No one minded the wait. Everyone seemed to understand: good things—truly exceptional things—are worth it.
The owner himself was incredibly welcoming, exuding the kind of genuine warmth that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a guest in his kitchen. As we made our way inside, we were immediately surrounded by the intoxicating aroma of freshly baked bread and buttery pastries.
We sampled several croissants, both chocolate and classic, each one a perfect symphony of crisp, flaky layers and delicate, buttery richness. The blueberry pastry was another standout—light, airy, and bursting with fresh flavor. But what made the visit even more special was trying one of the chef’s specialties. With such eloquence and passion, he walked us through the process of how he created it, revealing the mastery and precision behind every fold and flourish.
With a box full of pastries and fresh coffee in hand, we headed out to Rhode Island’s stunning coastline. Sitting by the water, we savored every bite as the morning sun danced on the waves. It was the perfect way to enjoy our French delights—surrounded by the salty air, soft ocean breeze, and the beauty of the coast.

We woke up at 6 AM so that we can be the first in line before they open at 7 AM. Things can sell out so quickly but it’ll be so worth it. Their buns, breads, tarts are all so good. We’re looking forward to standing in line early again once we go back in a few months.

Delicious, decadent, buttery — all the things you want in a croissant or pastry. The charcoal baguette super unique as well. Lovely staff. Getting there early is a must — they were already restocking at 7:45am!

Worth being at the door at 7 am to get your choice of the best pastries in Newport! I had the pleasure of visiting a few times and just walking in and the smell reminds me of my trip to France. The delicate crunch, flavor, and honey combing of the pastries will keep you coming back. I tried multiple pastries and can attest you cannot go wrong whatever your selection. Wishing the chef and team continued success as they look to expand!

First time coming to this French bakery, recommended by our Airbnb host, LOVE this place! Check out our photos & video and you’ll see how many items we’ve tried. Had been to Paris last year for a family trip, we had our share of authentic French pastries. Le Bec Sucré definitely lived up to the hype. Everything was delicious! We just dropped off my daughter for the Newport marathon early morning before 7am, then went to this place right before it opens. Good thing we did, as we found out later they sell out their goodies very fast! They only open 4 hrs a day 5 day a week. Next day before we headed home wanted to go back for some classic croissants to bring home for my fam, 8:30am they always sold out most of their pastries & breads. The same staff recognized me from day before, he was so attentive to offer to saran wrap the box of for safe travel. They arrived perfectly. Thank you Le Bec Sucré for the dedication & friendly services. It is a must try if you’re in the area!

5 stars all the way!! I ordered 13 items-a mix of croissants and fruit pastries for a work meeting. Every bakery item received rave reviews. Thank you for the ease of ordering and having the pastries ready to go. My co-workers just confirmed what I knew already…a great French boulangerie and patisserie!

Wonderful selection of reasonably-priced pastries! The shop is very neat and the staff are welcoming. I always go for the Pain au chocolat, its very flaky with delicious semi-sweet chocolate center. Goes well with my morning coffee. Today I decided to also try the pistachio/chocolate chip roll and was delighted!

I had read about how wonderful this patisserie was and it didn’t disappoint. We were in the Newport area for a family Wedding and had just had to visit. We purchased 2 croissants and 2 Au Paine Chocolates. We have visited a few patisserie when in France and these were more delicious and the lamentation was better than any patisserie in France. I can’t submit photos because we devoured them.
If you are ever in the Newport area this is a must place to visit, you won’t be disappointed.

There is excellence in every detail from the classic baguette to the chocolate croissant, not to mention the perfect quiche. Delicious hardly describes how amazing everything is. Hopefully, you are lucky enough to meet the owner, he is so gracious and generous.
