We stayed at Embassy Suites by Hilton San Juan hotel when we visited Puerto Rico, this is their main restaurant.
There were many local restaurants and fast-food around the hotel, but we were so disappointed with their food, service and price. Therefore, we ended up using this this hotel restaurant three times.
The food was very fresh and reasonably priced. Some of their menus are a little cheaper and fresher than local restaurants outside the hotel. Highly recommend!

What a great dinner for our first night on this trip! The whole snapper was fresh, fresh, fresh and perfectly prepared. The sides were also great. I had the beans and rice. Portions were generous and staff was super.

I usually love coming to this bar — it’s one of my favorite places because of the great atmosphere and the amazing bartender Jenmarie, along with John. They always make sure we’re taken care of and are a big reason I keep coming back.
Unfortunately, my last visit was really disappointing. I was seated in an area where the bartenders couldn’t serve me, and as a result, I got almost no service the entire time. It took a long time to get anyone’s attention, which made what’s usually a relaxing time feel frustrating instead.
I still think this is a great bar overall, but I hope management can address the service issue in that section. Regulars like me really appreciate the kind of care Jenmarie and John always give — it would be great if the entire bar offered that same level of attention.

Family of six here and we understand It was a difficult day yesterday the 1rst of 2026. But common they were short on basic supplies like ice for example. They seated us after telling us they couldn’t serve us because they closed at 9, and we arrived at 7. When we left, the waitress looked for us because the hostess shouldn’t have turned us away when clean and open tables are visible. After we were seated, it took 40 minutes to bring the appetizers and children’s food and 3 hours for the adults’ meal to come thru. Three tables that arrived after us were served, including a family of four and another of five, and we watched, wondering how they got served food and they arrived after us. We genuinely felt sorry for our waitress too, because it was obvious they were short-staffed and she was eating while serving us and at the same time helping others. What I couldn’t understand was the two bartenders who took 20-30 minutes to make our three drinks. We, who had a view of the bar, could see them joking, looking at their phones, and talking while the other employees were visibly rushed. The restaurant was clean. We got in at 7 and got out at 9:40pm.

This restaurant doesn’t have the best ratings, but we were intrigued by the menu and so we finally decided to go here for dinner.
The first impression is always made by the usher and here it would be nice to have someone more empathetic and nice than this lady was.
Luckily, the waitress Alison came to the table, and thanks to her we stayed.
Alison was very nice, she explained everything to us and took very good care of us.
We ordered fish tacos and Queen snapper for dinner. And honestly, all the food was delicious! The fish tacos were much better than the previous night at the restaurant next door (and they were also very good there).
So in the end I give a full 5 stars because the food and our service Alison was perfect. Just improve the usher because the first impression makes a lot. And such an attitude can put off guests.

My husband and I went to dinner and the food was great. We ordered the shrimp in Creole sauce with mamposteado and yuca mofongo stuffed with grilled chicken and a cream sauce. The servings were generous. The shrimp dish came with 8 large shrimp. My husband said the yuca mofongo was the best he had tried. The prices are higher than other local places but you pay for being inside the Embassy. Service was excellent. Our server answered our questions and was kind. There is paid parking available but I am unsure if it can be reduced if you eat at the restaurant. Overall, I would go again!

Every time we come to Puerto Rico, La Cueva Del Mar is a must! The food is consistently incredible — we’ve never had a bad experience.

Tonight, we enjoyed the fish tacos, mofongo, and shrimp with rice… and every bite was absolutely delicious.

Great flavors, great service, and always a great vibe. Highly recommend!

It used to be a great restaurant. No longer the case. The owners seems not to care about your reviews because things get worse rather than better.

Right now I’m trying to enjoy a piece of bread pudding that it seems to be the driest bread they had in the kitchen as a left over. Their bread pudding used to be delicious but they rotate their chef’s quite often and nothing is standardized with the quantity, quality of food. The tasting of food is disappointing. It seems that the food preparation processes has reached a level of being a just a swallowing experience when you are in need of a food surviving intake for the time being.

Prices when up, food quality, seasoning and preparation and portions went all the way down in all aspects.

As a tourist your options are mostly limited if you don’t know the area or don’t have transportation. Maybe your better option is to go to the bar restaurant. At least prices are not high and they provide a food bite for the moment that is not that bad.

Juliana was amazing!! We stopped in for a bite to eat and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our waitress, Juliana, was incredibly helpful when we weren’t sure what to order. We trusted her recommendation—choosing her personal favorite—and were treated to a delicious fish dinner. Dessert was a lava cake, followed by an excellent latte. Everything was wonderful from start to finish.

The atmosphere was great. The convince of having a restaurant on-site was perfect for people who didn’t want to explore outside. The food was good, I had ropa vieja and my husband had the steak and lobster tail. Our waitress Solimar was so kind, patient and explained the menu. She made our experience a great one.
