My son kept going back to their shrimp and grits, which is saying something, because that boy can be suspicious of grits made outside the South. But these? Creamy, smooth, not gravelly, and seasoned like somebody back there actually cares about their job. I cycled through half the menu like a man doing culinary reconnaissance. My favorite was The Goat, a bowl loaded with Korean barbecue sausage, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, eggs, and goat cheese. It sounds chaotic, but somehow it just… works. Like the food equivalent of a jazz solo.
But let me be crystal clear. The star. The showstopper. The Beyoncé of breakfast.
Firecracker Bacon.
They bring it out on a wooden slab like they’re presenting ancient treasure they unearthed behind the Waffle House. It’s thick enough to be considered a building material, cooked to that perfect point between floppy and shatter-your-teeth crispy. Then it’s glazed with something sweet, sprinkled with Cajun seasoning, and suddenly you’re questioning your entire relationship with bacon. We kept ordering it “for the table” which is code for: cut it up and throw it on top of everything we ordered because life is short and cholesterol is imaginary until your doctor yells at you.
The service? Excellent. They have a small army of servers who move like they’re in a coordinated breakfast ballet. Nobody disappears. Drinks stay full. Plates show up fast. Everyone’s friendly enough that you almost forget you’re in a city where people use turn signals ironically.
Now… we do have to talk about their obsession with “hand-cracked eggs.” It’s on their shirts, their signs, the menu – everywhere. I’ve never seen a restaurant so proud of… using their hands. I assume the alternative is cracking eggs with a shoehorn or a leaf blower. I don’t know. Does it make the eggs taste different? Not even a little. But Scramblers is committed, and I respect the hustle. It’s like when a martini drinker insists theirs be shaken not stirred or when Arby’s reminds us they slice their roast beef fresh. Sure, buddy. If it makes you feel better.
Bottom line: If you want variety, flavor, and the kind of bacon experience that will follow you into your dreams, Scramblers is the place. We kept coming back because they gave us no reason to go anywhere else.
Highly recommend. And definitely get the Firecracker Bacon. Twice.
When we ordered, I asked for two coffees, but she only brought one. When we politely mentioned it, she replied, “I heard you,” which came off as unnecessarily rude. After that, she said she’d give us a few minutes to look at the menu, but we waited around 10 minutes before she returned to take our order, even though her section wasn’t particularly busy.
When I placed my order, I clearly asked to switch my pancakes for the pumpkin stuffed French toast, not the regular kind. When the food arrived, it was the regular French toast. Another server brought it out and was kind enough to apologize and take it back, but when our server returned, she blamed me, saying I should’ve told her I wanted the pumpkin one — even though I was very clear about that from the start.
What made things worse was noticing how differently she treated another table seated nearby. Her tone, attitude, and overall energy completely changed — she was friendly, smiling, and engaging with them, while with us she was cold, short, and dismissive. That really stood out and made the experience feel even more unpleasant.
After that, she didn’t check on us again for the rest of our meal. Our coffee pot was empty, and we had to ask another server for creamers, who was thankfully very kind.
Overall, this visit was really disappointing. The food was still great, but the service completely missed the mark. I hope management addresses this because I truly do love coming here — today’s experience just didn’t reflect the usual standards.
Not a single person working in the restaurant smiled. They were rude from the very beginning. The waitress was slow, mumbled to the point you couldn’t understand her and seemed more concerned with getting her phone before seating us in a 90% empty store.
The waitress never said hello or smiled. Showed up for the food order and never came back. I had to grab a random waiter to ask to speak the manager.
I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was flavorless and the eggs were cooked terribly.
Also, ordered was a yogurt parfait and chocolate chip Pancakes. They were both considered fine, but nothing special.
The atmosphere of the place is like a morgue. Oddly quiet and all the employees are walking around with a scowl.
I gave it a 2 star only because the manager comped the whole meal even though I told him he didn’t need to comp anything multiple times. I appreciate that he was so insistent on covering it due to the multiple issues.
