Reviews
The food? Absolutely incredible. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, and you can taste the quality in every bite. Whether you’re going all out for a special celebration or just treating yourself “just because,” it never disappoints. What really sets it apart, though, is the whole experience. The service is genuinely great. Servers are attentive without hovering, friendly without being over the top. And those little dining nooks? Such a game changer. They add that extra bit of privacy and intimacy that makes it perfect for date nights or meaningful conversations.
Scarborough Fair is one of those places you leave already planning your next visit. Five stars all the way.
Headline: Total kitchen breakdown—missing half the ingredients
I’ve long appreciated the unique, “enchanted” atmosphere at Scarborough Fair, but my recent dinner was a major disappointment in terms of basic kitchen standards. I ordered the Brodetto di Mare, a signature dish that relies on a specific harmony of ingredients.
What actually arrived was a shell of the menu description. The dish was missing the scallops, basil, shallots, and the teardrop tomatoes. Essentially, 50% of the dish—including a primary protein—was absent. When I pointed this out, the server was apologetic but admitted that the kitchen hadn’t even informed her they were out of those items. It is unprofessional for a kitchen to send out a $40+ entree with the main components missing without notifying the guest first. To the restaurant’s credit, once the error was identified, management did remove the charge for the dish from my bill. I appreciate them making it right financially, but the lack of communication between the kitchen and the floor staff ruined the meal. If you’re going to charge Sea Girt prices, the execution needs to be far more consistent.
We also ordered hot honey brussel sprouts. What we received was a dry, charred plate with no hint of hot honey.
On a positive note the Fig/Honey sour cocktail was amazing and our server Brianna was very good. This has been our go to anniversary spot for years, we will be going elsewhere next year.
The food was good but nothing outstanding. The service was super slow and the waitress was not very attentive.
Our group of 9 goes out to dinner every 6-8 weeks, always picking a new restaurant but in the case where a place is very good we will go there multiple times. Scarborough Fair was the most expensing restaurant we have attended in the last 4 years, It was not worth the money.
No one had any complaints about the food, although I will say the New England Clam chowder is anything but a chowder. It was super liquidy and not at all creamy and thick like most New England Clam chowders. We sent it back.
Biggest issue we had was we did not like our table at all, being seated in the bar, and service was super slow. We were there over 3 hours.
We will not be going back!
Very nice choices for the appetizer, entrée, and dessert.
Total price on the high side but it was Valentines Day. They included a 20% tip in the bill something that I’m not a fan of. Fortunately, we had a good server who earned the gratuity.
Reservations very much recommended during the year but mandatory on special occasions.
