Took my granddaughter in for a roll at 6:00 pm. They have buy 2 get 1 free. We ordered at 6:05 and the 3 rolls were not brought to our table until 6:40. There were only 2 other tables of customers but a steady order of take-outs.
The service was just terrible. The rolls seemed smaller than the rolls at other Sushi Ai’s. My granddaughter said “grandma, we need to find a different sushi restaurant, this one is terrible”. I will never return for sure.
This is my first review below:
First time not ordering the all you can eat menu. Just wanted a couple of rolls. Very quick service and the rolls were out quickly.
Food is not fresh.
Service is awful.
Wish I read the 1 star reviews and didn’t give the establishment benefit of the doubt.
I went in with low expectations, considering it was a Midwest sushi buffet, but somehow, it was worse than what I imagined.
Tuna: Grey undertones and smell didn’t match the color. Which was more concerning than it if smelled really fishy.
White tuna: brownish hue and it’s orange
Salmon: smelly and warm
Didn’t finish the food that was concerning, and the waitress argues with us, saying we have to finish it unless we want to be charged. Waitress never cleared our table and gave off a very annoyed demeanor. It felt like we weren’t welcomed here.
Don’t go here.
They also didnt even make the rolls right, our food took forever to get. Nigiri had way too much rice in comparison to other sushi places I’ve had. Service was extremely slow. And it wasnt even packed today. Do not come to this sushi AI location
I came here for the advertised $15 all-you-can-eat sushi deal only to find out it’s not available on Sundays. Nowhere on the website, menu, or signs does it say that! When I asked the server where it stated “not on Sundays,” she said she didn’t know. That’s false advertising, plain and simple. You can’t promote a deal and then change the rules whenever you want.
The food itself was decent, but the dishonest pricing completely ruined the experience. I won’t be coming back, and I’d warn others to double check before you order they’ll scam you too!
We drove from Salem to try this Sushi Ai location today and had the worst experience ever.
We’ve gone to the location in St Louis several times before and were quite disgusted by the very poor quality of the food at this location. We were a party of 5 and most of us were ordering from their “premium” all you can eat menu.
Each of us ordered crab Rangoon as an appetizer, but what we received was liquid filling inside that tasted like sweet icing with barely any crab meat inside. We showed the server and upon seeing it she said “oh no” very concerned and we asked if this is normal and she then said yes and walked away. We knew this was in fact not normal, as we’ve ordered crab Rangoon at Sushi Ai every time we’ve gone in the past.
After a few moments she brought back another one to our table, and it was the exact same liquid filling inside. She then brought another and it was no different, after that we finally asked if she would just take them off our table because they tasted awful. She was very obviously annoyed with our request, but removed them.
We all ordered fried rolls except one of us, and each fried roll had that same disgusting liquid inside. We attempted to eat them, but they had no flavor and just tasted fried so we then complained again about this disgusting liquid in the food, and after that this man came to our table.
He started to yell at us when we calmly explained that we were quite disturbed with the quality of our food and this disgusting liquid. He told us we would get a 10% discount but he wouldn’t do anything else because he’d lose money.
We explained that we are not comfortable eating this food as we are concerned that we may be become ill due to the poor quality of food. He questioned how we could get sick and we explained to him again that it’s possible to get sick from food that is not properly prepared.
He then told us he doesn’t care if we like it or not, that he thinks it’s fine and he would eat it himself. He then offered us 50% off and we explained to him again how we didn’t even eat the fried rolls, the only person who ate was the one guest who ordered a non fried roll and we stated we were willing to pay full price for that one person because of this, but did not want to pay for food that was such terrible quality as we couldn’t even consume it.
He again complained he would be out of money, but didn’t care that we would be out of money, and a meal because of their poor quality food we received. We all skipped breakfast for the all you can eat sushi as well, so we were all starving.
He then accused us of just not wanting to pay for this food, but we really just didn’t want to pay for food that looked like it would make us sick after consuming it.
After yelling at us some more we finally gave him $40 cash, he kept telling us he did not care about us, or the restaurants reviews when I started to take his picture to which he stated “take my picture I don’t care”. He then started saying we took his picture without permission so he will be calling his lawyer.
He continued yelling at us even after we paid him the total with 50% off and telling us to just leave as we were all already walking out of the restaurant.
