Now this was amazing! I was excited finding this place because I love Indian food. The lady behind the counter was so sweet and offered multiple samples for me to try. I appreciated it because I hadn’t even asked for a sample, and she took the initiative to pair certain curries and rice together to give me an idea of the different items available. I tried multiple items and spice levels and decided on what I wanted from the samples. I went with the ghee rice, the butter chicken (mild), and the Chettinad chicken (spicy). The bread was warm, flaky, and delicious. I’m sad it’s over 30 minutes from me, but I will definitely make the drive again!

We loved that they let us sample different types of rice, sauces, and proteins before ordering. Most places make you guess or stick to what you already know, so being able to try everything really helped us figure out what we liked — and what we’ll want to order next time!

The service was excellent from start to finish, with friendly staff who greeted us with a smile and even handed us a bag before we left.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting the flavors to be this good, especially since it’s a fast-casual Indian spot, but I left genuinely impressed. I’m already looking forward to going back!

This small but cute indian restaurant totally surprised me in the best way. The first thing you notice is the cute color combo in the decor — bright, fun, and just a really happy vibe overall. The inside is nicely decorated, spaced out well, and feels super welcoming.

But the coolest part? They actually let you taste their menu items. Like… as many as you want. I’ve been to plenty of Indian restaurants, and this is the first time I’ve seen that. Love the confidence.

We tried the ghee rice, chicken chukka, and goat ghee roast, and every single dish was packed with flavor. And I have to mention their parotta — because wow. Around the Jacksonville/St. Augustine area, most places serve parotta/paratha that tastes just like the frozen ones from the store. But not here. This one was flaky, soft, and genuinely delicious… the real deal.

The food overall took me straight back to my years in Chennai — the spices and flavors were spot on. Plus, most of their meat dishes are boneless, which is always a nice bonus.

Portion sizes are great, everything was tasty, and overall it was a super solid experience. Kolapasi is definitely worth checking out if you’re anywhere near St. Augustine.

Super enjoyed our visit here! This place is located in a plaza, so there is plenty of parking. The restaurant itself is a bit small. Upon ordering, the girl at the counter offered us a free taste. My husband wanted to try all the dry chicken curry dishes and she had no problem with it 🙂 He finally decided on cashew and pallipayam chicken. I ordered goat, chicken curry and lemon rice, they were all delicious and flavorful! Although I would’ve preferred a more tender goat.

Overall, we will definitely be back! So many more to try!

Kolapasi Indian Canteen just opened up in St. Augustine at World Golf Village.

If you’re a fan of authentic South Indian food, this place is a must-try!

Fun fact: Kolapasi means hungry in South India — and trust me, you’ll want to come hungry because the menu is loaded with bold, crave-worthy dishes. Everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients, and you can taste the difference in every bite.

The setup is pretty cool too — you actually get to see the food before you decide, and you can build your own bowl with endless combinations. From classic curries like Butter Chicken, Chettinad Chicken Curry, and Dal Tadka, to specialties like Goat Roast, Kerala Beef Fry, Nilgiri Chicken, and Spicy Coconut Chicken — the flavors are spot on.

They also have plenty of rice options (Lemon Rice, Coconut Rice, Biriyani Rice, and more) plus flaky layered parottas that are perfect for soaking up all that curry goodness.

And don’t skip dessert — the Beetroot Halwa, Tender Coconut Payasam, and Mango Lassi are the perfect way to end the meal.

Whether you’re in the mood for biryani, curries, or just want to build a hearty custom bowl, Kolapasi is bringing South Indian comfort food straight to St. Augustine. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu!

This was our first visit to Kolapasi and we were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helped us decide what to get. You are able to try any of the dishes before you buy, which was both fun and tasty. We got the Pallipalayam Chicken, the Mulligatawny Soup Rice, and the Kerala Beef. Everything was delicious. The Mango Lassi and the Tender Coconut Payasam were refreshing as well. We will definitely be back.

Finally a break from all the pizza-burger shops! Excited to have fresh Indian cooking close to home! They welcome you to taste dishes you are curious about before making a selection, which was so helpful for those of us new to the cuisine. I ordered Pallapalayum chicken, a delicious medium-spice, along with channa masala that was equally good, and coconut rice which was delicious with mild spice and peanuts…a new addiction! Some of us tried the pumpkin halwa for dessert and it was rich and lovely. The value for price is fantastic—it’s hard to finish the $14 double-curry mealWe will be ordering often!

Very welcoming fast food restaurant with authentic Indian flavors. Perfect for people unfamiliar with the cuisine because the friendly server offers samples of each dish, based on your preferred spicy levels. Affordable prices ($11 to 15), for this type of food and generous portions. This is counter-served immediate, no waiting.

I absolutely loved this meal! The coconut rice was fragrant and perfectly seasoned with curry leaves, mustard seeds, and a touch of spice. Definitely had a comforting South Indian flavor. The potato curry was rich, bold, and beautifully spiced without being too heavy. But the real standout was the paneer—creamy, flavorful, and cooked in a delicious green curry that had just the right amount of heat. I’d order this again in a heartbeat.
