Chronically Traveling
I went for dinner to this great restaurant. They were having a menu change over special with 50% off appetizers, 30% off entrees, and discounts on drinks and empanadas.

We tried sangria, prickly pear margarita, 2 kinds of empanadas, burnt beet salad, bone marrow with fries, and each got a steak and split a flan (on the house!) for dessert.

All of the food and drinks were great! I loved the prickly pear margarita the most, but some might think it’s a bit too sweet.

The empanadas were so delicious and I loved the humitas one! It was unexpected and so tasty. The burnt beet salad is the perfect blend of flavors and acidity (and looks pretty!) My least favorite, and it was still good, was the bone marrow. The fries were absolutely delicious and so crisp. The steaks were both thin cuts it so remarkably tender and somehow perfectly cooked. If I cooked the same steak, there’s no way I would have gotten medium rare! The meat was so tender you barely needed to chew, it was delicious. While we didn’t order dessert, they brought out a delicious slice of flan to share. The caramel on top was perfect and sweet and it was deliciously firm, not overly gelatinous.

While everything was delicious, the service was friendly, the dining room is clean and nicely decorated, but we were 1 of 2 tables all night! People are missing out on this place. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s tucked back a little or they just don’t know, but give it a try! It’s so good.

We were very excited about eating here. My wife is a foodie, and we love Argentine parrillada. I took her for the Mother’s Day celebration, but we regretted it very much. I think it’s way TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get. The picture of the salad is a $8.50 Russian Salad, we felt insulted by this. The chimichurri is nothing but Argentine it lacks all the real ingredients and consistency of the original one. The meat wasn’t covered on chimichurri, which is a signature of the Argentine parrillada. We got the feeling that the restaurant is trying to cut costs. The meat was not seasoned properly. One could tell that the right process wasn’t followed. I want to say that the chorizo and morcilla we good, but I paid $160 for all this. It seemed outrageous. The service was very bad, we never got our water glasses refilled, they had only 1 waitress, the poor girl was very busy she tried to be nice but one could tell she was having a hard time handling all by herself. We ordered a mango juice, and since the waitress was busy, a lady with an angry face pretty much slammed the glass on the table and left. My son ordered a $28 Milanesa, which he didn’t like at all. We are a family of foodies. we’ve tried several restaurants in Milwaukee, Madison, and Chicago, and I have to say that this is the WORST Argentine restaurant we’ve tried. We won’t ever come back because on the little details, one can tell that they are trying to save money, like not having enough waiters, portion size, etc. They should realize that food is an experience happening in real time. If you mess it up, you might lose customers like they just did with us. For the price we paid, we could have gone to Bazzar in Chicago, which is a REAL Argentine owned restaurant. It’s was definitely a bad experience. If you want to spend your hard earned money, go elsewhere, not recommended at all!!!

I heard some friends talking about this place, friends with discerning palates who only call a place good if it truly is. We went, and every bite was exquisite. The atmosphere is wonderful; it makes you feel like you’re in Argentina. From the warm bread upon arrival, the perfectly made sangria, and the delicious grilled meats. Everything was just outstanding. Do yourself a favor and visit this Argentine gem!

Went here with my boyfriend for dinner. Everything from the drinks, entrees/sides and dessert were phenomenal. It was all so fresh. We tried several flavors of their margaritas the hibiscus was a favorite. We both got the steak chimichurri tacos and they were delicious, perfectly cooked/seasoned. So happy we tried this place, we’ll definitely be back!

Who else loves a great food adventure? There’s something exciting about a menu that’s completely unfamiliar. When I don’t know where to start, I always ask the server or the owners, “What do I need to try?” That was exactly our experience last night when we met up with Monica for dinner at El Gaucho Grill in Brookfield.

El Gaucho Grill is a cozy, family-owned spot with a fantastic blend of Argentine, Mexican, and Uruguayan flavors (hope I spelled this all correctly). The owners, Tony and Arlynne, are incredibly welcoming, and our server was a pro at guiding us through their menu. It was clear we were in for a treat!

Now, let’s talk food! We started with the Provoleta—Argentine baked Provolone cheese with olive oil, spices, and toasty bread. And, of course, we had to try a variety of the House Specialty Baked Argentinean Empanadas with Chimichurri sauce! We sampled the Ham and Cheese, Mushroom and Cheese, and The Humitas. Each one was a little pocket of joy!

Anne, as expected, went straight for the Beet Salad—sweet burnt beets with baby arugula, goat cheese, and fresh oranges. It was fresh, tangy, and delicious!

For the mains, we went big with the Parrilla Asado/Grilled Meat Platter, which had a generous portion of bone-in short rib, grilled chicken, Argentine sausage/chorizo, and more. It’s a fantastic way to experience the diverse flavors they offer. We also tried the Milanesa Napolitana, a crispy fried beef steak topped with baked ham, melted mozzarella, and sliced tomatoes—definitely a crowd-pleaser!

Dessert was an absolute must. Arlynne crafts most of the desserts herself and it’s all delicious. From the Chaja Cake, to the Dulce de Leche Flan, to the Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta, to the Alfajor, each dessert was a delightful end to our meal.

If you’re looking for a unique dining experience that transports you to another culture, make sure to visit El Gaucho Grill in Brookfield. It might be tucked away behind Potbelly’s off Bluemound Road, but trust me, it’s worth the find! Go check them out and make sure to bring your appetite.

I typically don’t write reviews, but this restaurant truly deserves one. Tucked away in the Midwest, it’s a hidden gem serving authentic Argentinian cuisine. The warmth of the people enhances the overall experience. Tony and his staff are fantastic, ensuring customers have a delightful time. Having visited multiple times, I can attest that it never disappoints. The Chivito al Plato was a standout during my last visit, and the Choripán is my go-to for a quick, satisfying meal. The diverse selection of empanadas is a delight, and I’ve savored all the desserts on the menu, with the Alfajor and Panqueques being my favorites.

First time I’ve had Argentinian beef. The NY Strip was one of the best I’ve had. In a restaurant that is. Empanadas were also very good. The dessert cake amazing. Try the Argentinian beer if you like beer. Well worth the couple extra bucks.

Dined here this evening on a whim and everything was excellent from the service to the food! I’d never tried Argentinian cuisine before, but I loved it and will definitely be back! Nice to have more authentic ethnic restaurants in Brookfield as opposed to all the chain places! Brought home a few empanadas for my son and he also loved them!
