Incredible date night at Torien! This is easily the best yakitori experience in NYC.
The omakase journey was flawless—each skewer was grilled to perfection over binchotan charcoal, with that unmistakable smoky aroma and juicy texture. A few highlights were the chicken oyster and the liver, both were melt-in-your-mouth tender.
The atmosphere is intimate, dark, and sophisticated, making it the perfect spot for a special occasion with my girlfriend. The service was impeccable and attentive throughout the night. It truly felt like a piece of Tokyo in the heart of NoHo. Can’t wait to return!

From the second we walked in, the vibe was amazing. Everyone working there was so friendly — you could literally feel the good energy. The small touches made such a difference: everyone personally greeting you, pulling and pushing the chairs, even the chef walking you out when you leave, asking if you need help getting into your Uber. It’s hospitality done right.

And the food… insane. Not one bad bite. Everything was so well done. I also loved the open-kitchen omakase setup — watching them cook everything right in front of you made it even cooler. And unlike a lot of omakase spots, I actually left full. Like, genuinely full — in the best way.

Also, random shoutout to their ceramics — the plates, bowls, cups… all of it. Super nice and added to the whole aesthetic.

Overall just a 10/10 night. Would absolutely go back.

The food was outstanding, and this has been one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in NYC so far. The chef and staff are clearly passionate and highly professional, and every dish was exceptional. They serve unique and hard to find items that truly set this place apart in New York. I enjoyed every moment of the experience and will definitely be back.

Great job to the entire team!

We has a warm and heartfelt evening here. Aki was our grill master! Super delicious, juicy and flavorful chicken dishes made with care and precision. Simple but really beautiful food with high quality ingredients. Definitely will be coming back with family next time 🙂

Booked a birthday dinner here with my girlfriend and had a fantastic experience. The entire staff was professional and welcoming. We were honored to be served by Chef Aki, who is both highly skilled and friendly. The tasting course is very generous you definitely won’t leave hungry! The ‘Tail’ was the standout dish of the night. Highly recommended.

I had an exceptional experience at Torien.

From the moment the meal began, it was clear this is a team deeply rooted in Japanese craft and omakase philosophy. Every course felt intentional and disciplined, with a strong respect for ingredients and technique. The chicken itself was the star—each cut tasted remarkably clean and pure, allowing the natural flavor to come through without excess. The knife work, preparation, and cooking were consistently precise, showing a level of refinement that only comes from repetition and trust within the team.

Service was seamless and understated, striking that ideal balance of attentiveness without intrusion. The pacing of the courses felt natural and calm, reinforcing the sense that everyone was moving in sync. The drinks were thoughtfully composed and complemented the food beautifully.

A particularly meaningful touch was the team taking a moment to engage with us after the meal. That quiet interaction reflected the hospitality you expect from a true omakase experience and brought the evening to a perfect close.

This is easily the best yakitori course menu I’ve had—on par with, if not exceeding, what I’ve personally experienced in Japan. I’ll absolutely return when I have the chance and look forward to sharing this place with others who appreciate this level of craft.

First time to visit yakitori. Quite impressive with the different flavor and texture of each part of chicken. Make sure your stomach is empty. It’s darn pretty good amount of food.

Went to eat by myself, the food itself was great, everything cooked right no point; but the service was really disappointing, most non-Michelin restaurants do a better job than them.

I was the only one who didn’t order alcohol drink that night and instead, I ordered the tea. Everyone else got their drink pretty quickly and I didn’t get my tea after the first dish was served and I had to talked to the chef (yes, not the server, because I wasn’t able to grab them as they were always serving the other customers) and reminded him that I didn’t get my drink. After I finished my first cup of tea, no one came to check or refill for me until I asked them to; after I finished the 2nd cup, again, no body cares…So, for someone who don’t drink, they don’t deserve a good service?

Torien was okay not great. Mainly it wasn’t worth the price by a long shot. It’s all chicken, I knew that going in. It was well and precisely cooked but simply not particularly tasty. It isn’t near the top the list of yakitori places in NYC, frankly I have had much better on the street in Seoul and Tokyo. Realistically I would pass on this. The room and the presentation was okay at best, the service was good it’s just that its a meal that was worth maybe 15% of the price. There’s actually not a single specific piece that is worth pointing to and saying wow that was good. Too bad.

Heard it was the best yakitori place in New York so we visited. For an all chicken meal, we were quite impressed.

The ramen had excellent texture and was a great way to end the meal. service was excellent and we ended up very full.

The extra chicken skin skewer was underwhelming and we wouldn’t recommend that again.
