Hooray!! the new Urbana Starbucks location is open and it’s glorious!
I only did the drive thru this time and it was wonderful. Out of habit I had driven to the older location first, waited in the long line for about 30 seconds until I remembered the newest (this one) location just opened.
The drive thru waiting line is long and wide and wraps around the entire shopping center complex which is Starbucks and I believe two other stores (those are still empty).
There wasn’t any wait for me at about 8:45am but I think that’s only because word hasn’t quite spread yet about the new opening.
Staff was friendly. Service was quick. The breakfast ham & Swiss sandwiches were delicious and so was my hot cinnamon dolce latte!

3 times I went there and they have no idea what they are making. I think they need more training on how to make lattes and other drinks. Plus, today my husband went there and spent $13 on two tall regular brewed coffee when he actually ordered a specialized coffee.

I ordered a Raccoon Cake Pop and an Iced Banana Cream Protein Matcha, but the experience was really disappointing.
They gave me a Birthday Cake Pop instead of the raccoon one my son wanted, without saying anything. When I went back to ask about it, they said they didn’t have any left and told me it “tastes the same.” Then they asked if I wanted to wait two hours for a frozen one to thaw which felt a bit ridiculous.
The Iced Protein Matcha also wasn’t made properly, it had no ice, and I could taste unmixed powder clumps with every sip.
What really bothered me was the attitude. The way the staff asked if I wanted an “iced raccoon cake pop” came across as sarcastic. Instead of explaining why they changed my order without telling me, they just acted like it wasn’t a big deal.
I was hoping to have a nice time with my son, but the experience left a really bad impression.

Employee taking order for drive thru insisted that I turn off my car before taking my order. Claimed he couldn’t hear me over the car but obviously we were conversing back and forth about the order. Employee is male with long hair.

One thing they need is a direction sign for the restrooms. I see lots of folks going to the rear hallway (where most Starbucks bathrooms are)instead of the actual location.

Their coffee machine was broken, seriously I ordered a coffee and was told “sorry our coffee machine is not working, would you be interested in an Americano instead?” . Very polite staff about it all and it’s a new clean location but seriously open like 2 days and can’t serve a plain coffee….
