Came here for lunch with a friend who really raves about this place.
Food:
The menu is very extensive. It includes many standard Mexican dishes along with several house specialties. You get free chips and salsa to start. The chips were good. The salsa had decent flavor but was very thin. You had to scoop it up quickly before it ran off the chip and onto the table or into your lap.
I ordered an appetizer of guacamole. Unfortunately, it was basically a bowl of smashed avocado, and that’s exactly how it tasted. Very little seasoning and not much flavor. In hindsight, I should have ordered the Guacamole Mexicano, which includes the ingredients that I consider essential for guacamole.
For my entree, I ordered a combo plate with a tamale and a chile relleno. It came out very quickly. The presentation was not great. It looked like the items were placed on the plate and then smothered with sauce and cheese. The flavors were underwhelming. The masa on the tamale was not very moist and crumbled when cut. The beef filling itself was tasty, but there wasn’t much of it.
My friend ordered the Burrito Acapulco and really enjoyed it.
Service:
Service was good, but not especially attentive. Our server got tied up somewhere, and we ended up asking another server to take our order for the guacamole.
Atmosphere:
The restaurant is large and has plenty of seating for different size groups. The space is colorful, with bright green painted walls. There is a bar along the back wall, with a couple of TVs suspended from the ceiling. The overall design is fairly typical of many Mexican restaurants. There were only a few other tables occupied, so it was relatively quiet.
I’m not sure if I would come back. If I did, I would definitely try something different than a standard combo entree.

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday while on a weekend adventure, and we both enjoy Mexican food so we pretty much just picked this place from a Google search. The staff was friendly, and our waiter was attentive. He checked in with us multiple times during our visit to make sure we had everything we needed. The other review photos do it justice. It’s bright, clean with large dining space.
I ordered a Jalapeño Margarita and the Mexican Burger, my husband ordered the Steak Fajita Quesadilla. We both enjoyed our orders, and I don’t know if the delicious Margarita inspired a greater appreciation for my food but I ate my burger in about 2 seconds.
The drink cost as much as my meal, but everything was really good so I’m not complaining. I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in the area.

We did not have to wait. The restaurant was not busy. We were served the complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were very good. The server seemed in a rush and did not tell us about the special. After I asked, he only said street tacos, and then he walked away. We placed our order, and the food arrived quickly. The fish tacos were not very good. The beef tacos were ok, but we have had better ones at other restaurants. El Jimador should reduce the number of menu items and concentrate on fewer offererings with better tasting food. The prices were reasonable. They do offer a cash discount. We will not be back.

Excellent experience!! Service was fantastic. Restaurant was clean, bright and welcoming. Chips and salsa were plentiful and tasty. The Pollo SantaFe was delicious, the rice and beans with the meal were quite flavorful. My boyfriend got the Hawaiian bowl and loved it! Very generous portions, we took home enough for another meal. We don’t live in the area, but will definitely be back when we can!

Great food and service. order came up fast. everything great as usual this is my new favorite place in town. I can’t see the cilantro in the salsa but I can sure taste it it’s perfect. Edit: the day of this review there was a bunch of flies in the bathroom near the kitchen. Today I visited again for lunch and I couldn’t get some baby fly to stop bothering me. I love the food but I don’t think I’ll be back until they get rid of this fly problem it’s kind of ridiculous. I killed maybe a dozen flies on the wall in the bathroom today of this original review. I know every restaurant has problems with flies or pests but please fix!

we got to choose where to sit which is a huge plus. you have the option to sit inside or outside. they had 6 different options of hot sauce on the table. the food was very tasty. we ordered steak chimichangas, horchata, steak taco, pork tamale, & chicken enchiladas. everything was great even the rice & beans had great flavor. everything tasted fresh & the steak was tender & juicy. the customer service was great & i loved the place. it was very clean & well decorated. you get HUGE portions. we got two meals out of our two meals! so if your hungry this is definitely the place to go! their chips & salsa are very tasty as well! i’d definitely make the 35 minute drive again no problem! i’m glad we stopped. 🙂

Im am a very big critic when it comes to Mexican food. From what I’ve tried here i can say Great chips & Salsa! Amazing tacos, and incredible taste to the chicken bowl i had. I think this place is very underpriced for its quality of food for what you get. Ill definitely be coming here on a routine basis!

We have been here half a dozen times, great every time. Good service. Food comes out fast and hot. Their cheese sauce is to die for. Portions are big enough to share!
