Awesome food. Tastes like real home cooked goodness. We are from New Orleans, and my husband loves collard greens but its hard to find good ones. He said these were some of the best he’s ever had. We got fried chicken, fried pork chops, and catfish–all were breaded perfectly. So crispy. Also got Mac n cheese, yams, cabbage, red beans, cornbread and a honey butter biscuit. I recommend all of it. We will be back to try the smothered chicken and pork chops. Really friendly people, too!

Seriously some of the best food I have had in my life. My personal favorites were the smothered pork chops, mac and cheese, and collard greens.
The atmosphere is more like a waiting room than a restaurant–you order at a counter and your food will come in a styrofoam container with plastic utensils even if you eat there, so I would recommend taking your food home.
But seriously SO GOOD! I can’t wait to try everything on the menu!

Ordered red beans and rice and collard greens. The collard greens were very good and so were the beans although the rice felt like it didn’t have the same flavor. Corn bread was very tasty and had the right amount of moisture. Service was good and the person who took my order was very friendly. Will definitely go back and give their catfish and mac and cheese a try.

First of all! The curb appeal is like so inviting, not to mention the food was great my order was two BIG fried catfish filets dinner with red beans and rice the rice was cooked to perfection and the beans were quite tasty just wish I had a double side so the catfish !!! Like for real really nice tender real cornmeal batter ya know like this is ummmm so so gouud! yeah! and my wife had the fried pork chops with spaghetti and greens for the second day in a row! Also, not to mention the wait time was Also excellent. The staff wereallgreatandveryprofessional and was very invested with my questions and concerns being that I’ma pescatarian!

Discovered this restaurant with my brother and I am so grateful that we are now in the know. I could taste the love that my meal was prepared with and cooked in. My meal was fresh and hot! That catfish looked so good I couldn’t wait for it to cool off…and they actually give you a WHOLE fillet…not 1 fillet cut into 2 (Integrity). The taste matched the appearance…it well worth burning my tongue. The cornbread didn’t need a chaser…it was the opposite of dry. Amen! The spaghetti & cabbage were seasoned & cooked perfectly. I grew up on soul food but haven’t liked it much since childhood…and now I know why…love was missing. The cabbage, spaghetti, catfish, and cornbread reminded me of my past while I enjoyed the moment. I teared up, chatted about childhood with my brother, laughed, and connected over a meal that touched my soul. Thank you to the chef for blessing us with your gift of cooking that connects people.

Lions Den Cafe has the BEST soul food I have ever tasted! The unique and rich flavors are unmatched. I am addicted . I have been to several MN soul food establishments and left disappointed every time! I am so grateful to have a restaurant that genuinely cares about what they serve.
The fried catfish, pork chops and chicken chefs kiss, all the side dishes . I never leave disappointed and I appreciate their customer service and welcoming atmosphere. I’m always recommending LDC to family, friends and EVERYBODY else!

The food is really enjoyable, my favorite thing to get it the cabbage and the barbecue ribs it’s so delicious! They always treat me kindly every time I go and the atmosphere is just amazing every time I walk through the door I just feel like everything that I was feeling that was negative has washed away. And I feel like if you haven’t tried there food go try it!

Lion’s Den Cafe is Best Soul food in Minneapolis! The food is so good it has me Licking my Fingers. My favorite thing to order is Definitely the Barbecue chicken with a side of Cabbage, a side of yams and also those Cookhouse Baked Beans are my absolute favorite to with it. Everything is Reasonably priced and my food always comes out Fresh. I’m always satisfied whenever I order at Lions Den Cafe. I receive excellent customer service every single time I order at Lions Den Cafe.

The staff gave me an expected wait time 25 to 30 min which is expected. I don’t the mind the wait especially if it’s made to order I can wait patiently i get it’s not fast food if you want it done right ! This is the place to be. I’m willing to wait ! The staff made sure they repeated my order back to me. The atmosphere was peaceful staff were polite. I would definitely recommend 10/10 hands down best soul food around

After several reviews about the pork chops.I went, however, I will disappoint it.They were not fried hard at all.The top coating came off they weren’t smothered, like I remember. So that’s that. And then the greens had like a sweet taste to it was not happy about that either. So yep not happy at all.
