The menu is stacked, especially for vegetarians. Not the sad “we swapped meat for mushrooms” kind of options..these are thoughtful, creative dishes that made choosing legitimately difficult. Everything I tried was dialed in. Flavors were sharp, balanced, and clearly obsessed over. No filler, no autopilot cooking.
The chile relleno was the clear standout: perfectly cooked, rich without tipping into food coma territory, and paired with nopales that actually pulled their weight. The rolled sweet potato flour tortilla tacos were quietly excellent..slightly sweet, deeply satisfying, and dangerous in a “maybe I order another” way. Even the black beans deserve their own applause: complex, flavorful, and unlike any I’ve had elsewhere in Tucson.
It’s tucked near Tohono Chul Park by Casa Adobes, and on that side of town there just isn’t much doing this kind of thing. Plenty of space, relaxed lunch energy, and a menu that basically dares you not to come back.
Highly recommend for lunch or dinner if you’re hungry for something different..and actually thought through.

I didn’t order any, but my friend also noted that this restaurant has a great selection of tequila and rum, along with mixed drinks.
It’s also very reasonably priced! Chef David, his son, family and team are absolutely rocking it.
So, go to Victoria Cocina Mexicana; just don’t tell anyone. I emphatically recommend this establishment!
The salsa and guacamole were good, served with warm chips. The drinks were good too.
Overall we had a good experience.
My reason for 3 stars is because the food was just okay. I do think it was fairly priced, no complaints there. The presentation was beautiful and everything looked great. But it started with our appetizer. We ordered the dragon fruit civiche, it sounded fun and delicious. The dish looked great. Once we tried it, it was just bland. Tasted like shrimp and dragon fruit, neither which have much flavor on their own. It has a ton of potential, but honestly ceviche from Safeway has more flavor.
Our food was the same. We ordered the Mole Negro and Mole Rojo. The Mole Rojo had a better flavor. Mole is one of my favorite dishes and I order it at every Mexican restaurant I go to. I was quite disappointed. It was unremarkable. I was also not a fan of the cilantro lime rice. I just don’t think the flavor profile matched the dish. The dish also came with no beans, which I pretty much always expect with a rice and protein dish. I would have loved a flavorful mexican rice. Overall we were pretty disappointed.
Worth a try, just wasn’t our type of Mexican food.
